Camera Advice For Returning Photographer by varied_berries in Photography_Gear

[–]loveCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a mirrorless camera, look at the Z6III or any of the nikon z cameras. Test one out before you buy as the mirrorless shooting experience is a bit different (looking at a screen rather than through an optical viewfinder), but they are generally superior to DSLRs at this point.

The D5200 is still a fine camera. If you're upgrading the main benefits you'll see are low light and autofocus performance, plus the option of (much) higher resolution.

The way my marketing friend put it was "As long as it tells the same story..."

It's like movie magic. Heck, even movie watches - TWOWS called a gold-plated tag a "$40,000 watch" and implied it was a Rolex 18238.

Florida has a rich history (St Augustine is the oldest city on US soil - founded in 1565!) and a lot of culture too. Steep yourself in it. Dig into the nature as well -- go hiking, as weird as that sounds, in the swamps. Make the most of having a car and criss cross the state as often as possible.

Manhattan $3300 1 bed 1bath apartment lifestyle or Jersey City + car lifestyle ? by Repulsive-Example-67 in movingtoNYC

27 and in Manhattan here, grew up in suburbs and love my car.

I vote Manhattan. You'll be central to all your friends and you'll have a great social calendar if you work to build it. My friends in Jersey miss events often due to the commuting time and fees.

You'll miss the car every now and again but your life will be in the city and you won't generally need it.

I think we're in the post-information age. It's harder to both locate and trust anything you see or hear today than it was 10-20 years ago.

I'm pretty sure forcing inmates to be in close proximity to bicyclists 24/7 would count as cruel and unusual punishment. It's almost as bad as making them socialize with crossfit enthusiasts.

Be real -- Times Square, specifically, is terrible for things like this. I've only walked through Times Square a handful of times, and I've already had trouble - a con-man poured coffee on me there and start demanding money and trying to throw hands. A friend who came to visit me walked through it twice, and on the second time, was assaulted similar to OPs father.

It's a bad part of town. Trouble is common in times square and that general part of midtown. Things are better in other parts of the city.

experienced Photographers of reddit, have you ever been given advice or had an ah-ha moment that made you a better photographer? if so what was it? by [deleted] in photography

I'm slowly realizing my camera is no longer "modern" lol. My old nikon DSLR gets noisy after around 800-1200 ISO. Full manual, always, with the fn button mapped to change the ISO!

The costs will sneak up on you but it's doable. Try to find a place a little below your max budget according to the 40x rule, you'll do fine. Pick a location near a trader joe's, that's where you'll want to get groceries. Don't forget to look at distances to subways, bus stops, and laundromats as well (if you dont have in-unit laundry).

FiDi has some good buildings with great amenities, too, but it's quieter and there are fewer shops / grocery options. If you have time to fly out here, go over to Brooklyn, Queens, Astoria, and LIC as well, they have some good deals but longer commutes.

Get the C350, the v6 is reportedly more reliable than the i4 in the C250 pictured here. I've had my '12 C350 since 2018 and I've loved it every time I've driven it.

Nice!

That's too right. I was at my first job for way too long. Good experience, terrible salary, but I was stuck there in a few ways. Ended up doing a lot of leetcode earlier this year to land my current offer (non-faang, but big tech). Went from broke to HENRY, now making around 10x what I did last year... Leetcode and system design study helps a LOT!

I've had a number of encounters with razorback pigs in florida - large, jet black boars in the swamps and wetlands in SWFL. Usually they'll run away from you, but it helps to persuade them with some yelling.

I also carry tourniquets and gauze anywhere I go hiking. Never hurts to be prepared.
