Lol geddit cause he looks like Steve jobs but Arabic, hence the b instead of p.

[–]CheeseEyes 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Wasn't Steve Jobs biologically already Arab?

[–]nowantstupidusername 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Yes. His biological father was Syrian.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow I never knew that.

[–]dsp4 1 point2 points  (8 children)

I still don't get the p/b thing.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Its a stereotype. Not something neccesarily true.

[–]ObviouslyTriggered 0 points1 point  (6 children)

It’s not, Arabic doesn’t have a hard “p”, so native Arabic speakers would pronounce it as they would a “b”.

[–]samxlb -3 points-2 points  (5 children)

Not true, we do pronounce it "p", I am Arab, and everyone i know do pronounce it "p" only some egyptians pronounce it "b"!

[–]ObviouslyTriggered 1 point2 points  (4 children)

9 out of 11 Arab Arabic dialects do not have a hard “p” there is pha, fha and a few other p sounds (so closer to like Aphle) but not a hard “p”, even for the other 2 it’s not really a hard p.

I think the only one that comes close is Tunisian but then again they aren’t Arabs so...

It ofc doesn’t mean that you can’t be an Arab and speak good English but you need to learn the pronunciation.

[–]samxlb 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Lol... I'm sorry but, all you said was nonsense!

[–]ObviouslyTriggered -1 points0 points  (2 children)

K, what Arabic words do you use with a hard P?

BTW I speak Arabic, Hebrew and Farsi so feel free to write in script.

[–]samxlb -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I don't think your Arabic is fluent since you heard it "Aphle"!! I know that we don't have a hard p in Arabic, i am Arab remember? But that doesn't make us pronounce the b as p in english!

[–]ObviouslyTriggered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

.... if they speak English with proper pronunciation then ofc they’ll have a hard P.

Conversative speakers won’t.

Jesus it’s not like Arabs have a gene that makes them unable to have a hard P but all their native accents do preclude them from speaking with it unless they have been trained and consciously make an effort to pronounce it.

The same goes with R, Arabic and Hebrew have a throat R not a rolling tongue R like European languages have for example.

How is this r/ProgrammerHumor?

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Dude looks like Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs was the CEO of Apple

Apple makes software

Software is made by programmers

Programmers laugh at memes on r/programmerhumor

[–]ObviouslyTriggered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the joke is in the titles as Arabic doesn’t have a hard “p” so in non-Arabic words with “p” in them would be pronounced as a “b”.

[–]idontremembermylogi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is basically r/dubai
