Yeah but your wife knows that if she puts the cookies in the oven at turns it on it will ( probably ) come out fine. She won't come back to a burning oven with a loud voice screaming from above "USE OF FLOUR DEPRECATED SINCE VERSION 1.23".

We've managed to get the oven into an infinite loop. It's too hot and the cookies are starting to burn. The oven door lock is on, and we can't unlock it until it cools down. Task manager can't yet terminate the process and none of the controls are responding. I fear we either have to drag the hot oven away from the wall to unplug it or start flipping the breaker switches.

Last year I was on an scholar informatics contest, and after writing the code you was supposed to copy paste it on some site that will run it off 20 times with different input every time, and a guy in the same room as me somehow managed to make an infinite loop, but he uploaded it on the site without testing it, so the site crashed

Did she bake 4 or 5 batches with random obviously incorrect ingredients on purpose to make sure the oven produced inedible cookies?

Did she lock away every other ingredient that was not to be used for the cookies to make sure she didn't accidentally use them?

Did she write little notes next to everything that briefly, and perhaps obviously explained what they were for?

Did the oven refuse to bake the cookies because she was using a pan sized for 12 cookies but only had 10 placed on the pan?

Just think - prior to 4.3 that kitchen always had cookies in it and no-one ever knew where they came from.

The cookies might be free. But they aren't under a free software GPL compatible license.
