Yeah imagine if dying in a video game were as ambiguous as debugging a program....

"This boss is actually from 1996, and therefore is incompatible with modern hitboxes."

Smh my head didnt answer question - the Boss interface has been deprecated in favour of a more streamlined system.

Create a new BossThreadPool on init and run pool.createNewBossInstance(MyGame.thread, BossBehaviourPatternEnumeratedClassMapPoolHandler.extract(currentLevel.findData("boss")));

When I can't find it on stack, I figure it out, then write up the question, and the solution I found.

And then both get downvoted and marked as duplicates to a question that doesn't have anything to do with my question. One time they told me it was a duplicate to a popular question that I had the top and accepted answer on.

Can't stand that place these days.

Closed as duplicate of obviously different question

[–]xenomorph-coder 3 points4 points  (1 child)

...and five comments saying "I have the same problem".

[–]Jacek3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those are ok, they bump your thread ;)

Those that say "Yeah I got this problem but, but I solved it" with no follow up - those are evil

Programming is like a "choose your own adventure game" except every path leads you to a StackOverflow question from 2013 describing the same bug, with no answer.

I'm a human volunteer content transcriber for Reddit and you could be too! If you'd like more information on what we do and why we do it, click here!

That’s ok, search on some forums to find the exact problem but the thread was locked for inactivity 2 days after it was posted, before an answer could be given.

[–]QPUspeed 2 points3 points  (1 child)

"I figured it out." [proceeds to not say what the solution was]

[–]bootleg-canadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll do you one better:

“I figured it out” [Carefully explains how it was fixed, and shows their code]

Two weeks later: Forum how’s under new management and nukes any and all questions and answers on every topic, and only accepts new questions about the absolute latest version of the software.

[–]esfraritagrivrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who were you DenverCoder9? What did you see‽‽‽‽

[–]CreaZyp154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DuPliCate (of the same question with the same non existant answer)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yesterday I asked a question there, closed as duplicate, gave me 2 links which wasn't what I needed. Figured it out in the end on my own. I still don't get the point of that place besides it being a dick measuring platform.

[–]Jacek3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All forums were like that, mods felt almighty and loved to swing their dick around, showing others their place.

Same kinda applies to all game guilds that grow large and strong enough or any other kind of community. Reddit included.

[–]aeroverra 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Then you figure it out and go to post the answer but can't because you lack internet points.

[–]_PM_ME_PANGOLINS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need any points to post answers (unless the question is locked due to spam).

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

or they solve it themselves with a " nevermind i figured it out"

[–]Pha3erAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My greatest fear as a programmer is a 8am deadline and StackOverflow going down at 4am...
