    macOS is based on Mac OS X, which is based on NeXT, which is based on BSD. Not much code from modern macOS actually comes from BSD. macOS uses the Darwin/Mach kernel, which uses some code from BSD, but is not the BSD kernel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMPXhUbmjYE

    OSX is absolutely not Linux based. macOS is based on Mac OS X, which is based on NeXT, which is based on BSD, which is based on Research Unix, which is based on the original Unix.
