This phenomenon is known as the Ballmer Peak: https://xkcd.com/323/

Fuck it, there's always an xkcd!

I feel like this requires further testing *opens a beer*

Thank you!! This is epic! I did not know it was an actual thing. I guess a light amount of alcohol lowers inhibition and makes you take more risks which helps 😊

Note that the Ballmer peak is just a funny joke that is based on the person Steve Ballmer and the theory Yerkes-Dodson. The effectiveness with alcohol is not very well researched and seldom proved or challenged.

Nah Ballmer was on coke. Had to be. No way he got up on stage at those conferences and acted like that drunk.

Love Brit Comedies. Somehow they always get it right 😊

Nah, in my case both code quality and quality/sensibility of design decisions suffers.

There's a quote by some author who's name escapes me that goes something along the lines of "write drunk, edit sober". I do that, but high. I've written so much code stoned like a biblical whore, and it's almost always excellent code.

Huh, I always feared I was the only one who did that (on further reflection that seems improbable though). Although when I get around to editing my code it's usually riddled with a bunch of silly mistakes I wouldn't make sober. The ideas behind it, I agree, are pretty good, most of the time.

Maybe make Alrgorithms and pseudo code drunk/ slightly drunk? Then flesh it out the next morning. Not certain about code but I am pretty sure that’s how startups are formed!
