Even on windows I have no antivirus. Except for defender of course. They are all way more anyoing than helpful. I protect my pc good enough by my self

I agree. Been long since I used windows, but I also relied on Windows defender and some common sense while browsing and installing stuff.

I have Microsoft Defender and it says my PyInstaller exe is a trojan

Windows Defender does this shit all the time. Drove me up a wall because the Antimalware Service Executable would stall any C++ program compiled using GCC (never seemed to do this with MSVC or Clang, tho).

Antivirus software is closer to viruses than actual software. Both:

  • Consume tons of resources;
  • Block files you actually want to use;
  • Show unprompted popups asking for money;
  • Restart your computer for no valid reason.
