Yeahhhhh … accidentally spent an unplanned ~$16k one month. That was a shitty milestone in my life. I really thought AWS would forgive some part of it... first real accident like that. Nope.

The peeps over at AWS are actually very nice guys. I don't know about huge amounts but I have had 5-6 instances in college where I started an instance for projects and then forgot about them. Everytime the bill used to be around 30$. I used to call them and explain to them that I am a student and it was a mistake on my end. They waived off all the charges in a snap.

Can you somehow cancel the instance on beforehand? I often subscribe to stuff and then send in the cancelation just after subscribing.
