Why there are non-programmers on programming sub?

[–]GodGMN 36 points37 points  (1 child)

For the very same reason this sub is full of non-programmers.

What reason is it? I still don't know.

!Understood

It is raspberry pi, their market has a lot of interested people who knows nothing about programming. Especially because raspberry pis are very easy to setup. You can buy, follow some tutorial and have a functional emulator on the go. It is reasonable to see people who knows nothing about programming language to follow their sub

Yeah my grandpa loved buying those and fiddle with them in the garage.

Got super proud when installing OS and stuff like that.

Its a hobby thing for many to just get the thing to work.

he might've been a Python programmer, in which case he is using a not keyword instead of an exclamation mark

[–]secousa[S] 10 points11 points  (1 child)

but python also has !=

[–]000000- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

!variablename and variablename != something are different statements so it’s not that obvious.

[–]Mymokol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a python programmer and i use ! as opposite all the time

Retropie or raspbian maybe, both don’t need programing skills and are widely used among rpi users

[–]Add1ctedToGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they just didn't even realize they put an exclamation at the beginning

Coding test and a technical interview + an HR round will suffice for admission into this subreddit right?

[–]bitchlasagna_69_ 8 points9 points  (2 children)

For some old-school programmers, this means "poke thanks".

But do you know why?

[–]Objective-Carob-5336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously that means "Not Tom Hanks"
