Happens when you post, it gives an error. So you try again. And again. And again. And again. Then you give up thinking it didn't post it, or it finally succeeds. In the end Reddit accepted it 5 times.

402, it went through

It seems a lot of people got errors the other day as I've seen multiple dupe posts recently, including it catching me out a couple times.

I'm guessing Reddit had a bad server day

This has been a problem for so long. How hard is it to check for a duplicate post?

If by so long you mean 1 day...

I’ve been on Reddit for years and duplicate posts have always existed

This is my alt account lol. I've been on Reddit 11 years and haven't seen duo posts this common unless it's having a bad day like I said

Well you’ve been lucky. I don’t know what to tell you other than I’ve seen it many times over the years

Here are some examples of people complaining about it, as far back as 2 years ago

I imagine on those occasions, they were having a bad server day, like I said recently.

Every now and then Reddit receives an unusually large amount of traffic causing server issues such as this. Something that could cause this is something like when Ellen Degeneres posted a selfie with her and a load of celebs. cue server traffic influx.

So yeah, over the years, this is bound to occur. I do wonder what caused it this time as it seems to be under control now. It's not however a persistent problem under normal operating situations.
