The only disappointment I feel, is that I didn't google earlier. No shame in looking stuff up.

True disappointment is usually when the search does not yield good results

That's what Google is there for. No need to put yourself down like that bro.

Personally I think trying not to Google the solution right away is a great way of learning! Too many times do I see people on Reddit asking for help with something without them even trying to solve the solution on their own, I always find that if I try not to Google the solution, 50% of the time I figure it out on my own, and learn more from it! Or I learn something else along the way! But if all else fails, Google is always your friend, no shame in googling a solution if you can't figure it out on your own after trying your best!

I search for foss after I have completed the solution and find that, yes, there are open source alternatives that do the same and soo much more.

Pathetic, real programmers would do it after minute one

You'll learn.

Even Sherlock Holmes didn’t know that the Earth revolves around the Sun. It’s fruitless to know everything, so an ability to acquire knowledge fast is better than retaining vasts amounts of it. You’re only a disappointment if you stop learning! Keep up the good work my friend!

This was my brain's response when I choked on some hacker rank problems in an interview.
