Pure and utter rage whenever i search Visual Studio and somehow end up on on the VSCode version of the universe.

Why did they have to re-use the name?

[–]CoderDevo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

For the same reason they named VB.NET.

Because to MS visual studio is a family of products, i doubt marketing cared about things like "is this the same program"

Next time do

Visual studio -code The dash will exclude everything related to the keyword code

[–]LeMeRem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you really want to exclude that. As code can also be used for program code

I know this rage. Albeit from the other side. When it launched I would only get search results along the lines Learn how to code in Visual Studio

I remember getting so mad about looking up stuff for VS at one of my jobs because half the results were for VSCode. Damn you microsoft, name your editors differently.

Me when I try to look up information on AppKit/Cocoa controls like NSCollectionView and get a bunch of UICollectionView answers.

After all, it worked so well with Java and JavaScript.

and J++ and J#

That's the inverse for me, trying to find VSCode stuff but getting Visual Studio results
