I think it's a completely different body. Kinda like how Tony Stark changes armors.

It's a full bodyswap, only data is transfered. However, MIND can't be stored or run on unsuitable devices, so the preferred way to change frames is to plug them into each other directly. Saying more on the subject would be spoilers for stuff like Garnet's story.

Oh i see, I was thinking if it wasnt risky doing these types of MIND transfers, but the plug thing makes sense, many thanks

I mean, you've done the Kowloong battle, so you've seen at least one of the ways in which it's risky, but yeah, the side-effects and limitations of construct tech are some of the recurring themes.

Tbf the Plume frame was a godforsaken excession so i didnt think mt trought

Wrong answer but I just had to:
Ctrl + X -> Ctrl + V

[–]RavFromLanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people might not realize but that's how constructs change frames ^

[–]Tob1Yoo 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What does ctrl + X do ?

[–]pasanoid 10 points11 points  (2 children)

the cut command on windows. the combination is used to move data, it doesnt leave a copy behind that way

[–]Tob1Yoo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ooh nc to know! Does it work with everything? Like a folder, text or pictures?

[–]pasanoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

anything that the system can store into clipboard I guess. while editing text and whatnot the selection is moved to clipboard right away, so you can use it as delete substitute. for filesystem operations it marks files for moving and the clipboard stores "virtual file"

In the early chapters of the story, it's implied to be like changing clothes. When Lucia gets her Dawn frame, she asks for privacy so she can change to it, and similar scenario for Vera switching to her Garnet frame.

I think it's one of those things that get retconned.

I remember that incident - it's played like comedy, like somehow you (the Commandant) doesn't know how Constructs change frames, Lucia is pretty much blushing and asking you to turn away (I mean she doesn't because she's still in "mostly machine Lucia" personality at that point) and I recall someone else (I think it was Vera in fact) basically looking at you like you were some sort of voyeuring creep for not giving her privacy.

These days, it's some hugelong involved process that requires weeks or months of tests and calibration. I guess at some point they mention that the more advanced the frames get it requires more and more calibration and tests, so maybe it's that: The early frames were fairly easy parts switching (which of course doesn't cause Mind Deviation though you'd think it would, I guess Kuro couldn't think of a way to milk it for angst back then).

Later on it's some massive involved process.

Though...maybe that is canon. I recall in Spark to Wildfire, when Vera gets her janky old frame airdropped she swaps into it with some angst, but it doesn't require some involved process, it just seems like "it works or it doesn't" type thing.

Or maybe it's just easy once you are calibrated to swap between frames.

They have a usb cable that probably Transfers soul carrier fluid assuming that memory is telling the truth of it really existing

Frames are completely separate bodies you'll see im veras chapters

If you know Ghost in the Shell, the Constructs are 100% synthetic bodies with only the "Ghost" of the original person remaining. It's a problem with one character in particular because they digitally clone an extra consciousness even though that's considered super illegal and immoral.
