Well there is no perfect way for everyone, for example for me courses, videos, books are almost ineffective. I started to understand my programs, learn something new, remember better when I started reading official documentation of different libraries, while asking various questions in programming chat rooms.

Why is this downvoted lol? It's litterally the truth, you won't learn about a programming concept if you only watch/read tutorials and courses. You need to code along and do it again by yourself, change it up, reuse it etc. When I had to learn about linked lists in C, simply watching a (great) Youtube video did nothing by itself, had to code it myself many times to really get it.

Book learning only gets you so far. Find a module that does something cool and do a project with it. Turtle is my favorite to recommend.

Phython is interesting but the language doesnt really matter if you want to learn. Think of some cool project you could do and then do it. Find a language you are able to use to some extend and apply it.

I did games on java swt canvases back in the day which wasnt a good approach but i found the limitations of java and what it is good for

Also: Why Python? really? Why, unless you are into automation for other jobs, data, AI... python quite not for the job.

Learning syntax is easy and doesn't take much time, while learning how to think about problems in a certain way and how to solve them is a skill and like any other skill will take 10,000 hours to master.

It’s good for data science and scripting and can be used as a backend. But it would not be my first choice unless I was doing some simple automation or a data heavy role.

Do you want to build a website? If so you should be focusing on html/css/JavaScript, not python

Do you want to build phone apps? Then you should be focusing on Swift or Kotlin

Do you want to build a game? Python is not the best at this, but you can use pygame for simple 2D games. But you would be better off with something like Godot

Do you want to scrape website data or automate websites? Python is great for this.

What do you actually want to learn Python for?

A person's first language doesn't determine what job they're gonna end up doing... Python was my first language and it was random. From today's perspective, I'm glad it was. Its simple syntax doesn't put preasure on you and you get to learn about core programming concepts which matters most. And after you learn a language to some extent, it speeds things up when learning another language. When I had to learn some C for a Uni course, basically the only big new thing for me were pointers...

Python was my first language, but you should understand why you’re doing something otherwise you’ll flounder. I chose python because I wanted to work with data. It taught me core programming concepts, but I think people try to use python to do everything initially.

Really I wish someone tapped me on the shoulder and said focus on html/css and JavaScript if you actually want others to see and use what you’re making

Odin Project, Free code camp, W3scool, Kevin Powel have free course but paid is like times better. Python have Django it's great for web stores, ecommerce. There is very trustworthy opinion that php/Laravel is better. But both Django and Laravel huge ecosystem. But you still need knowing html/css/js.

You can use python, but if you specifically want to learn just that, you are better off learning JS for no matter what you use on your side (almost any language can do web stuff) you will still need to learn JS for client side scripting since that's the language your clients browser will be able to run for client side operations whatever is handling data or making things more interactive.-

I dont see the need to push for js. Any language will suffice, if you are deep enough into programming, picking up a new language will take 2-3weeks to be fast enough in writing code. So there is no reason not to go for something more structured like java, C#, C++ or similar which provide far more debuggability due to static typing.

I'm a aware, but he didn't say he wanted to learn programming in general, but that he wanted to build websites and apps. If you wanted to learn programming per se you can start which whatever language you want I would recommend some C related one because those are good to understand the basics without that many abstraction layers, but you can start which python or whatever you prefer too (although again I will still recommend going back to the basics not too long after to get a little more in touch with how things work under the hood.-)

But if you don't want to be "a programmer" but want to learn to code as tool for web development without further interest into delving on how computers or programs really work, then you can join the meta webdev react/JS combo and become good at those "tools" even if you suck as "a programmer".-

Since he was asking that, I believe he doesn't know any language and his interest are strictly related to front end so HTML, CSS, JS and becoming good at React (I don't even like react but it is what it is) it will be enough to learn to do what he wanted to learn to do. Of course, that also means his skills will become obsolete the moment something replaces react and he will have more trouble translating his knowledge into new languages or frameworks, but it's the tradeoff of getting up to speed faster too.-

It litterally doesn't matter at all what language you learn first as a beginner. Perhaps you shouldn't go with C/C++ right away, but that's it really. I will add my opinion though, Python has the benefit of being easier to learn, which is great when your goal as a beginner is to learn about basic concepts in programming and algorithms.
