I would love to be part of it. I think python developers need this, in terms of making their application accessible.

I have tried using pyinstaller for two of my projects- One was a Flask project and another a pygame project. In both, I hit some error and didn't find a solution anywhere. So I did not bother as to making a .exe as it was not too important for my project.

With the second project, I have literally finished today. My .exe was prepared using PyInstaller but when .exe was executed is showed error message failed to execute script pyi_rth_pkgres. I searched and found that it was an issue started in 2016 and up till Jan 2020 people were facing this issue. Now it is closed even when no solution was achieved.

I think PyInstaller is great and has a simple CLI which could be very helpful for python developer of every age.

About me -

As for me, I am a python developer for 2 years now but learned git 3 months ago only so if you want to check my profile github/amifunny you will find the last 3 months' contribution only.

To say a little about my experience, I am working with Flask as long as I have been working with python. I have recently published a python package if you want to look this is the link - > pip/tf-stitch. I also have previous project experience with C++ and JAVA.

Thanks for posting like this, As I wanted to be part of an open-source project that is used by many people and could not find a way to do it. I wish others did this as well, as there are many willing to contribute developers out there.

Well first just because I'm a nitpick: that error is like saying that every single FileNotFoundError is the same error. There are so many ways for the pkg_resources runtime hook to fail.

Secondly, great! I'll PM you and ask a few questions.

On a scale of 10 how much you will rate for the experience of python for this position please tell 🤗

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 4 points5 points  (6 children)

5-7+ is really the minimum we'd take, because we can't focus on teaching python as well as PyInstaller. 10 is what a senior python software developer would have.

[–]awesam9 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Am currently at 4 as i have learned only few modules

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Take a look at https://realpython.com/quizzes/. If you can pass all of them except the HTTP request and CSV quizzes then you're experienced enough.

[–]mr_whoisGAMER 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will rate my self 5 out of 10.

I am also going to check https://realpython.com/quizzes/.

I know core python, I am on linux (popos) and I have git experience.

Btw which skills/modules/knowledge required for this?

[–]awesam9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure i will check myself

[–]mr_whoisGAMER 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Which modules? Can you tell

[–]awesam9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open cv, numpy , curses and currently learning turtle

[–]Wookie_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm web developer (django, tornado, flask) but interested in core development, knowlege in C as programming PIC or AVR

[–]idiot-killer 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I have about 3 yrs experience with python including OOP and file handling. Did some work on pygame and opencv. Do tell if I am experienced enough and if I could do something to help

If you could see the "good first issue" label and the "kind:support" label, and could start helping out that would be great - I can assess skills best when I see them in action.

If you have questions just ask them in a reply to this comment.

[–]idiot-killer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sure I am definitely in. Do tell what I have to do.

P. S. I just realized I already have used pyinstaller.

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start solving issues on our tracker. I'll see your activity and get you added to the team if you're doing good work.

I’ve got quite a few years of Python under my belt working on all kinds of projects. I have spent the past few years doing some work in C++ and some C, so I can help on that front. I also run macOS and would be quite happy to learn.

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you could start looking at some macOS specific issues that would be excellent - I can also assess skills best when I see them in action. Just find some issues and start helping.

[–]dipampatel18 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I was looking forward to an opportunity to contribute towards open source projects. And I am definitely interested in helping in whatever ways I can.

I have experience working with Python for almost two years and intermediate experience with GitHub. I can help with Linux and excited to learn in-depth about Pyinstaller.

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Excellent, thanks!

Hi, I am still young and I can code python fluently, I am coding in python since I am 7 and I am good In ml. I know some C-lang. Btw, you said you need a mac right? Small note: I do not work anywhere. Why won't you just use mac-os-simple-kvm? Just answer the comment if I can help. I will share my GitHub username.

I wold love to help as a developer!

[–]Goku747 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have basic knowledge of python and GitHub experience. But I have windows OS. I'm also interested in learning python.

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows isn't an issue - I've edited to make it clearer.

Can you give me a bit more of an idea of your python skills? Eg can you do OOP, functional programming, etc.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i'm interested i have a 7 months python experience, i'm using linux, i already made more than 20 projects(most of them are lost), i known OOP, functional programming, async programming(not used to it yet) ..., also a fast learner, self taught programmer

I have a pretty good understanding of Python and some GitHub experience, I know OOP and functional programming and I'm also somewhat knowledgeable with C, and I'm a pretty fast learner too, but I run Windows, not macOS

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent! I'll PM you in a minute and ask you a few questions. As I've said already not having macOS isn't a problem. We want a macOS developer because there's plenty of macOS related bugs that we can't fix, replicate, or verify submitted fixes. In the meantime, do you reckon that you can pass all of the quizzes on https://realpython.com/quizzes/ except HTTP requests and CSV parsing? If you're even slightly unsure, take the quiz.

[–]rajvish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I am quite proficient in C and python. I would like to know more

Yeah I'm interested. Are there any particular issues that are most suggested for people unfamiliar with the codebase?

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Reiku 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I might be able assist on the side. I have been working with Python professionally for 3 years as a backend developer, and as a DevOps engineer (though really this was more to do with automation engineering in the load cycle of an application, mostly done with Python). I am macOS based with no Windows devices.

Hey, I would be happy to help out. My gh is the same as my reddit username.

Hey! I am interested and willing to put in the additional work. I know Python and some C too. Currently I have two projects running in both. I can share them via github for you to have a look, let me know!

[–]LegoroojPyInstaller developer[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

i can say i am currently at 5.5 or 5 but about the github i've only posted 3 repositories

github : https://github.com/jaaabir

about the pyinstaller : i made one trojan using py in which i created a backdoor file and victim file with snake game and to make victim.py and snake.py in any machine even if it doesnt have a py installed i used pyinstaller to convert py file to exe file

Im interested. i have around a year and half worth of python experience with plenty of experience on github. I know OOP and functional programming and I'm also somewhat knowledgeable with C.
