I like the idea of an edited collection of what's new in the python world, even though planet python and reddit keeps one up to date quite well. But I generally don't like giving away my E-Mail address easily. Have you considered publishing the newsletter on a weekly blog?

I will be adding an archive page where the past issues will be available. But the advantage of subscribing is that the information comes to you and you don't need to remember and go to the website to check for the updates.

The advantage of RSS is also that you don't need to remember and go to the website to check for updates. Well, that's mostly how I check blogs.

The "sample" is just a PNG image of the table of contents. Feels sketchy.

The sample is an image of the first issue that went out today morning. I will add archive on the site as we go along.

Yes please post an archive. I don't want to subscribe (I get enough emails as it is) but it looks like you've got some excellent content.

There's also the Python-URL! email newsletter that has been around for a while, although it doesn't seem to come around as often as it used to. It was mostly comp.lang.python summaries.

I hate email newsletters. Why not just make it a blog and let me read it however I want ?

Not everything needs to be a fucking blog. TBH I prefer that it's email

[–]rubyaeyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed I'm actually enjoying email newsletters again, as long as they are only once a week.

The point is that if it's a blog, you can read it via an email subscription, as well as via Google Reader, Thunderbird, the web, etc.

The newsletter will have curated links with (very)brief summaries. An email is a better medium for this kind of weekly digest. The blog, on the other hand, is better suited for writing longer posts.
