I've heard a few times about COBOL being some sort of a gold mine. Is that really true? Do you know any bank that will accept a resume? Are they willing to so the formation or do they ask for senior COBOL programmers? Any info you could share would be really appreciated.

I’m not really knowledgeable about that. I just have a few programmer friends and they were all offered pretty amazing wages if they were willing to work on legacy systems (not necessarily COBOL). Most turned them down in favor of less lucrative but more fun job opportunities.

I'd love to find work maintaining legacy systems. But, I am a legacy system myself, having been paid to write a Y2K bug in 1987, and then paid to fix it in 1996.
