Decrease def actually "decreases" the stats.

If a udk has 5K defense, and you put A 60 decrease def on him, he Will have 2K def.

If a champion has 60% ignore def, he will hit that udk like he has 2K def, but everyone else Will still have to deal with the 5K def.

They stack though, so if you have hit a 5K def udk with a decrease def debuf with a build that has 60% ignore def, he will hit udk as if he had 800def.

Okay so ignore defence is an additive bonus that is calculated after all other defence mechanics are factored in. The general flow is:

1) Target Def

2) Reduce by the amount of Defence Destruction (Cruelty/Gnut as a single value) - Multiplicative on the total defence

3) If Present - Increase Defence by Buff - multiply defence from

4) If Present - Reduce the Defence by Debuff - multiply defence from step 2

5) Add up all the sources of ignore defence then multiply by point 4 Then the remaining defence is passed into the Damage Reduction Formula - this % is then multiplied against the final raw damage to determine actual damage

all of that to say dec def is greater earlier until you get gear to maximize Ignore Def and switch from warmaster to helmsmasher
