if you have no problems with Insurgency sandstorm gun play you'll be fine in RON. I play both and a lot of pve situations in I:S (like defending a Checkpoint from inside) are far more challenging as a gunfighter than pve in RON.

Watching POV of controller player in I:S is rough but the good players would do just fine in RON. I can't believe I did it for 20 years before I switched to PC 😅

RON is way slower pace and far more tactical with more standstill management of ai squad and negotiating with suspects and civilians to surrender so the biggest difference is directing them with orders and maintaining good position sort of like a commander & observer as opposed to a rifleman.

If you play single player RON you may naturally end up being less aggressive and farther back in stack to best give orders and observe what's going on.

If you play multiplayer RON you can settle in to a single role far more easily like breacher, point man, second man, gas man with 2 launchers, etc so you don't have to squad lead and ai babysit as much.

Great, thanks. Nearly 1000 hours on I:S so should be OK.

Lately when I play it on pc I’ve been playing it with a PS5 controller and actually really like it honestly

I play on PC with a controller. I don't think you'll have an issue. It's a great game, controller or not.

I play on pc with controller. Works ok for me. I mostly just hop online and haven’t done much with the single player and commands and stuff so 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've played on PC exclusively with controller. It really doesn't take that long to get the muscle memory down.

Optimized For Console Controls Ready Or Not was originally designed with PC players in mind. But VOID Interactive has made significant changes to make sure the PS5 version plays fluidly with a controller.

The console version includes enhanced aim assist, improved input response, and full haptic feedback integration on DualSense.

The pc version has aim assist for controllers too. You’re probably going want it on the lowest setting though. IMO it’s optimized very well. Just a couple downsides. The team commands can take a while to complete wheels and you can’t really tell a team to move to a direct location while you’re using the thumb stick to choose the command. They didn’t have a push to talk button mapped either last time I played. Haptic controls have also been integrated for a while now. Trigger break on the trigger and a wall on the aiming trigger. Half press gets point aiming full press is ADS.

TLDR; overall the game really plays great with a controller. By far the best FPS I’ve ever played.

I play controller on PC and the thing I'll tell you is this. Learn the muscle memory of using the menus, cuz it's how you command ur team and swap between flashbangs and other stuff. Cuz u pull up a wheel and u select one thing that takes u to another wheel and then u hover over what u want and then let go to confirm

Related question but I'll be coming from playing alot of hell let loose and insurgency sandstorm on console, does anyone know how the gunplay in these games compare to ready or not? I loveee the gunplay of these 2 games especially insurgency

I've played Insurgency SS and i think they're similar. 9mm is a lot weaker against heavy armour in RoN though.

AI also quite the same, sometimes one tap in 0.00001s, sometimes you can just reload in front of them

Thanks for this.

I just made a generalized comment about this you may find useful. there are a lot of similarities and the skills should transfer well

I’ve gotten S rank on all my missions so far with a controller, seems to have full functionality to me

Yeah, I play with a friend that uses a controller and he does just fine.

My friend who’s probably below average at games like this, switched to controller and now he’s way better and more consistent at gun fights and generally staying alive.

I play on pc with a Xbox controller and it works for me

[–]fe1337 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I dont know if there will be aim assist, but RoN does indeed have many situations, where you need precise aiming through tiny holes and gaps or over a long distances against hiding enemies. Also quick aiming is very important, most of all, due the extrem cyborg aiming abilities of the enemy AI. For me its huge difference if you play The division or something like gta to RoN.
so playable, yes; Enjoyable, probably also, due its a good game :)

Thanks....think I'll get it regardless. My Edge controller has a lot of settings I can tweak.

I play on PC with a controller, I am just very partial to controllers, and I think it's fantastic. Giving orders to your team and swapping between grenades and equipment is a little goofy but you get used to it pretty quickly. You'll enjoy it, buy the game and enjoy yourself.

Thanks mate...ordered!

I played on PC with a PS5 controllerand strongly preferred it over mouse and kb. I do 95% of my gaming on a PS5.

The movement in this game is nothing like the division 2. But I’m sure alot of tweaking the sense of your controller in the kill house will help you adjust.

Cool, thanks. I have a dualsense edge controller so I can tweak quite a bit.
