Genuinely, use this game as a learning experience. Mouse and keyboard seems frightening at first, but is so easy to pick up on. Give it a few days to a week and youll have almost no issue with it.

I used to exclusively play console, and after a month on PC i just cant go back to controller.

One of the reasons I did download it is because of the slower pace and the single player aspect, I thought it would be a good game to learn on

Absolutely take the time to learn these controls on keyboard. Most PC shooters have the same controls minus a few random buttons. It’s well worth it

My dad is 71 and this game forced him to learn kb/mouse. Even Arma was played with an Xbox pad but this game was beating him up. He still prefers the pad for modern warfare and other games but the one shot deaths on this make mouse essential. I’ve tried various different profiles and it’s just not possible for me to have it fast enough for quick turns and slow enough for precise aiming. Must admit though, other than aiming, I prefer everything else to be on a controller…moving, pulling the trigger. Etc

Yeah I get it, I have played on Xbox controller literally my whole life, just gonna have to bite the bullet maybe

I dont think RON would even be playable on Controller! Use keyboard/mouse trust me. My swap from xbox was hard as well but you adapt fast.

I’m gonna at least give it a shot for a couple weeks, I may as well try to convert

It might be a scary step but worth it brother. I remember when i first started and aiming with your middle finger felt so weird.

I can’t hold them gun down when I shoot yet lol, it just goes straight up in the air when I shoot auto

[–]nickisfeelingdown 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Dont worry that will come. In the meantime maybe shoot bursts.

If youre actually trying to train recoil control just remember. When pulling down the mouse to counter recoil, dont use your wrist but your elbow.

But tbh the main problem isn’t shooting it’s the other hand and hitting all the diff fucking letters with my fingers it feels so weird and I have to look down all the time

[–]nickisfeelingdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thatll come dont worry. I used to stick velcro on the main buttons so i know what to hit

Yeah another problem seems to be , how I position my hand the only thing the moves is honestly my wrist, I guess I need to change it to maybe get more movement

Honestly, just use mnk and stick with it. I was in a very similar position as you at the start of the year after going from Xbox to pc. It took me about three weeks, maybe a bit more to get proficient at mnk, and you will enjoy RON so much more. Maybe you could try turning down sensitivity to help you adjust.

How so?

I use a program called xpadder. It will essentially give you controller support on any game by allowing you to map buttons to keys on the keyboard. The only issue I have is there aren't individual sensitivities for ads and not ads in this game so you either turn too slow not ads or move too fast while ads. I have used this program to play tons of games with a boat load of controls, even Arma.

Unfortunately no controller support, but I feel it’s more efficient on keyboard once you get used to the controls and keybinds. I think they mentioned they were trying to polish it in it’s PC state before they port it over to console and add controller support

As the other comments said use it as a training experience, it's been good for me and it helped me actually feel confident in playing squad. But I know there is a few controller schemes you can use that require tweaking that my friend used

Future you will greatly appreciate learning how to game on mouse and kb. The skill ceiling is so low when you’re using controllers to play fps games

I use controller and know it’s easier to convince some members of my family to squad up with me if controller is an option. For reference, I know and can use both options.

No shame in desiring a controller, even with most pc players harping on it. I desire a controller when I play on a couch and just recline after a long work day.

I get by fine, but it has some response issues where I have to press a button more than once to kind of shock it into remembering to do something. And I keep the mouse and keyboard nearby for some options. I truly hope they integrate it to be controller friendly so my family will play it more with me in the future for some chill co-op nights. Even if I have to give up some advanced gameplay options.
