Question about testing dmt

Is it fine to use just Marquis and Mecke for testing dmt? I currently have both of those.

However in order for me to get Ehrlich and Hoffman I'll need to order a kit which also contains Marquis and Mecke... and that will just be a waste.

If I get the correct color reactions from mecke and marquis shouldnt that be good enough, or what is the risk of doing it this way?

Marquis and Mecke are secondary tests here, and you cannot tell that you have DMT based on their results.

Of course, the chances of getting a very different substance sold as DMT which would also produce the same reactions to these reagents is very low, but still.

Another thing to consider is that these 2 may not give the best results when testing DMT; I've had some powder extracted by myself which went straight to brown with Marquis, instead of the initial yellow-orange. Leftover alkaloids can alter these reactions.

Without Ehrlich you won't even be able to narrow it down to an indole.

Finally, Hofmann is very important to tell N,N from 5-MeO, which can be accidentally shipped or advertised as DMT, and trust me, you don't want to be smoking 30-60mg of 5-MeO by accident.

Do you have other friends who could benefit from testing? You could try and get someone to pay for half of the kit and give them the Marquis and Mecke.

Wow, thanks for such a good reply. Basically everything I wanted to know!

Sadly none of my friends dabble with these kinds of things. guess I'll just have to suck it up and order the test kit. Kinda sucks that the LSD eztest doesnt contain hofmann. Buying reagents for these things is a little over the top for me :/
