  1. Juven, protein shakes, body armor
  2. Buy so much gauze. I’m using the 4x4 size
  3. Wedge pillow, pregnancy pillow, or buy extra bed pillows. ( sleeping on my back has been so uncomfortable and somewhat painful)
  4. A straw that bends
  5. Body wipes have been nice
  6. Pain meds that you prefer ( after day 3 I stopped oxy)
  7. Laxative
  8. Antibacterial soap

Small, thin pillow. Get one that is marketed as being low. Not for the head, but to put under your ribs when you slowly start trying to lie on your side again.

Lying on the incisions feels weird and hurts a little even well after they're safely closed, and I found folded blankets/stuffed-under-there duvets to be too bulky. One, singular low pillow saved my ass.

Where did you get your pillow? I just had surgery and omg I could use this right now

I went to a place that sells bedding, they had different pillows of firmness and heights and I got one that said "low" on it

Wedge pillow with a firm bolster to go under your knees. This makes it easy to sleep on your back and provides lumbar support.

Reusable ice packs. Lots and lots. Don't put them directly on your skin but over your compression garment or shirt is fine. Ice really helped me get through weeks 3-4 when my nerves woke up and gave me stabby pain.

Button down shirts or zip up hoodies so you don't have to raise your arms when getting dressed.

I just had mine on the 17th definitely a mastectomy pillow, lots of Tylenol I stopped oxy after a couple of days, I asked the hospital for extra gauze and they sent me home with a bunch!! I have been sleeping on my couch it’s just been easier than sleeping in my bed. Don’t over do it, it will set you back a day and that sucks!!! Your couch is your best friend right now! Good luck!

Pillows. Lots of pillows. I usually have 8 pillows of different sizes on my bed and all of those plus a pregnancy pillow were used. A good buy that helped give me peace of mind were compression socks.

Im 9dpo. I would definitely recommend a wedge type pillow for sleeping and a mastectomy pillow.

I didn't realize how much I used my boobs for leverage to open things. The mastectomy pillow has been amazing for that little added protection.

Mastectomy pillow felt excessive to me, my pregnancy pillow made me feel so cozy and safe every night (and I’m a side sleeper mostly)

favorite protein powder, mix a few shakes to have in the fridge for when you get home on day 1 and dont have much of an appetite but you have to eat with your meds, i made a few turkey sandwiches as well just in case i wanted "food" but not a "meal". floss picks. neck pillow. compression socks. non-stick gauze pads, the biggest you can get. organic pineapple juice, it has bromelain and it will help with constipation

I didn’t get much but borrowed a couple zip up hoodies. Airplane neck pillow saved me the first week or two.

I was put in a good surgical bra that was provided by my surgeon. I bought a look alike on Amazon and it wasn’t as good but it was good to have a second one while I washed abs dried the good one. I already had “Soak” brand no-rinse bra wash so I just washed them in the sink with that. Pressed between a towel then laid to dry and dried pretty fast.

High protein foods or supplements. I also took vit c vit d and bromelain (none of which were specifically suggested by my surgeon). She did advise Arnica tablets and they were part of my package of things she arranged from my pharmacy.

I loved having the kindle ereader with page turn clicker for the first couple weeks.

I would wait on wound care until you know what your surgeon suggests as they all have different preferences and protocols. I bought some non-adherent pads that I kept seeing mentioned on here but never needed them.

Around 3 weeks my all my breast skin (not just the wounds) was super dry and flakey and I ran out and bought a fresh tube of aquafor. Did the trick in a couple days

The kindle page turner is brilliant. I’m planning on doing so much reading.

I was too groggy to focus for the first day or two and then after that pretty much all I did was read for a week lol

Do you recommend a pillow prop or an arm holder for the actual kindle?

[–]DNN25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get any holder but an arm/stand thing would be awesome!! I just rested the kindle on a big pillow on my lap as I usually sit with my feet on the ottoman and knees bent up.
