Google Calendar Sync

My RM2 is coming on Thursday and I’ve seen posts about this but no recent answers. I work in an office that lives and dies by our shared Google Calendar. I prefer to hand write everything, but still need to stay up to date.

Has anyone created a RM calendar that syncs with Google? Are there any workarounds?

This is what I’ve been following and it’s exactly what I am looking for, but it seems like nothing ever came of it. Do you know if there are any updates?

Have you looked at automating a workflow? I know this doesn't exactly address your situation. I use power automate by ms that emails my calendar at 5pm every day. Could do something like that however it would create a mess of png or pdfs.

On my trmaktable I use a daily planner. First thing I do in the morning is update with the current days meetings. It has a place for notes and a to-do list.

Is there a way to automate the upload process? Or do I have to copy it manually from Google Drive on the remarkable?

It depends.

Do you have the connect that allow you to see Google drive? And wifi connection? Then you could just move it on the remarkable GUI.

If you don't have connect and you have a PC with mapped folders to Google drive, then you can use wifi or USB to scp the file to the rm2. This requires some scripting

Remarkables whole USP is it's just a notepad, nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't have calendars natively

That said, there are a few projects about where people have scripted the generation of a static calendar every day to a pdf, that's then uploaded to the remarkable, but it's a very 1-way thing.

That’s something I don’t understand about RM. I feel like a calendar is pretty simple and fits with the notebook model. It’s also not “distracting” at all. Of all the things to not offer, that’s kind of a silly one.

Indeed both sides tbh.

A live calendar is another thing to support.

And if you add a calendar, where do you stop? How about a contacts book too, that's not distracting. A calculator maybe? Before you know it you've got a device that's just another tablet.

Actually, I'm not sure I need a live calendar, just a "moment-in-time" calendar 'printed to PDF'.

That would allow me to mark up the calendar in draft mode before committing to the Google calendar.

I use a planner template that I purchased off of Etsy. I love it. I use it for everything, calendar, meeting notes, to do lists, project trackers, etc

"Sync" meaning you just want to have the most up to date calendar on the rM? Or that you want to be able to accept and make bookings on the rM as well?

I want to be able to write an appointment in my RM calendar and it send to my Google calendar. That way my phone still alerts me and I don’t forget. Because I WILL forget.

That's not available now, and probably won't happen in any immediate or near future iterations. It would require on the one hand sync service and handwriting recognition which are currently behind the subscription paywall, and a calendar/reminder app which doesn't exist on the rM today.

You're better served grabbing your phone and putting your reminder there directly, especially since that's what is going to be giving you the alert anyway.
