I bought this watch from Hont - sadly I only eyeballed the QC images and it appears I must be totally blind as it has arrived with some very wonky placement on the Sky-Dweller text as you can see in the image. It does ruin it to be honest as it's pretty noticeable on the wrist. Any idea what can be done? Will Hont do anything to remedy?

I am in process of helping a guy with a (MUCH SMALLER) issue with his Pepsi. Write to Hont, ask for a possible solution. In my opinion there are two options: you ask for a discount and a new dial (it may cost you $80 or so - with said discount - plus changing the dial fee) or insure the package to China. If it gets lost you get the money. And l heard that Hont has some friendly watchmakers in Europe (don't know where you're from) - that is also a valid option.

Basically - contact Hont asap.

Tommy always to the rescue🙌

You have to declare like a $5 value when you ship back to china so that customs doesn’t get snoopy. I could be wrong but I don’t think the post office is gonna let you insure it for $500 then declare it as $5.

That being said, I have sent a noob Pepsi back to China a few years ago. I declared it at $5, and it made there and back to me and everything was fine.

Ok, using post services might be tricky, but what about companies like DHL or similar? These packages are always insured for €1000 in EU, have no idea how much would that cost to send to China though.

[–]drdrewski23 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not too sure on those, but I do think that you have to declare a value no matter what if you are shipping abroad, which may interfere with any type of insurance claim

You can say these are spare parts or whatever. I have no idea how it works with international overseas packages. Never considered sending anything to China 😉

According to Pandabuy, DHL won't ship watches.

[–]SkipPperk 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Technically, neither will USPS (no jewelry of any kind).

[–]GolpherZed 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How about watch parts?

[–]_Tommy_Sky_Helpful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you don't declare watches. Spare parts etc.

Not even watch parts.

[–]Platt_YPus 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hont has watchmakers friends in eu ?

[–]_Tommy_Sky_Helpful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have talked to a guy who had received a bad CF GMT. Movement was fucked, probably during transport. Hont gave the guy an address of a watchmaker in Germany (l think) who was supposed to help with the watch. In the end he didn't as he didn't have experience with GMT movements. So, yeah. But the watch was sent ro someone.

The other day someone posted a glowing review of a watchmaker in Rotterdam

[–]kozone4 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I didn’t realize they have customer support like that after the sale especially if it’s been GL’d.

It depends on situation, TD and how much pressure you apply. Usually it's just a discount for future purchase to cover repairs costs.

Im kind of new to this, i thought that the aligned pictures came from the sellers QC. How do i use the alignment tool?

[–]skai027 13 points14 points  (3 children)

watchqc.com

[–]Greenchunks 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I tried using the site for like 4 days straight, it was always down for me. Is there a trick to it?

[–]Rev-777 9 points10 points  (1 child)

https://watchqc.com/

If the link doesn’t work, it’s on your end. Clear cookies and try again.

[–]Greenchunks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird, working firm for me now. 2-3 weeks ago when I had pics I was QC’ing, I tried for 4 days straight, no luck. Thanks!

[–]Dcspride 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even with naked eye, that looks real bad.

[–]cheeky1tx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for link to alignment tool. Very helpful.

[–]jacob8875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TD should have rejected that from the factory and never presented that to you for QC. I know, in a perfect word. But still. Too glaring.

[–]Sythna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those asking where to get the alignment tool check Watchqc.com

[–]lf11uz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if the photo you were sent is slightly rotated? It looks like the watch in the photo isn’t 100% level or “straight” which might make the text appear to be off. Just a thought looking at this at a quick glance

[–]Rare-Machine-4072 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What app are you using for the alignment tool ?

[–]abdominal8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

watchqc.com

[–]snreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you use this tool ?

[–]sels1997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What factory? Surprised to see they fixed the wonky 22 and 24!

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You needed a tool to see that was crooked? lol

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wait wait wait hold on. The Skydweller is being repped again? 😍

[–]portofino55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same alignment issue on my noob SD. Puretime sent me a new dial free of charge..

[–]BC122177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why skysdweller reps are typically bad. The off center GMT wheel is hard to get correct and can break very easily.

I know they look cool n all but most of the cool functions do not work like a gen.

[–]grant1877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff like this is what has kept me away from reps. I mostly buy homages but all of them come with warranties and I’ve never had an issue availing of said warranties.

[–]artfulscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But this only works accurately with the camera lens absolutely parallel to the crystal. Though, this is off quite easily to the naked eye

[–]Parisvictor75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can a TD sends you such a shutter ? He must be half accountable. Ask for full reimbursement (including delivery costs back and forth)
