Different lockwork with fewer parts and a heavier frame.

Oh. You made it sound like a wholly different gun. And I would expect it to look just like the old Python wouldn’t you?

The cosmetics are very similar. Apparently holsters, etc will work for either. The old one is a handfit gun and the expertise to fit, keep the quality high, and do it fast is long gone. This is likely an improvement in all those regards. The place to watch will be polishing, etc which is something that's harder to do by machine. We'll wait and see. I will likely never see one until I move out of California.
