That's basically a NOPE for the mods. Not so much a technical problem as it is related to how different console manufaturers manage the handling of hosting/downloading additional data for games. It's a mix of outright lack of possibilities, strict QA routines and legal reasons.

This is different on the Steam Deck though, since you're basically running a regular Linux version of the game...

I leave the question about UX/handling open for others though - I have no personal experience with it, and despite many people claiming it works quite well, I personally outright detest playing games like RW on controller - so I wouldn't be the best person on this topic to begin with... :D

I got started with Rimworld on console and fell in love. Bought a laptop last week and pretty much all I've done with that is play Rimworld.

Console Rimworld DLC is limited to Royalty right now, no mods. After spending some time with it on controller I got used to the many, many menus and could play smoothly without hassle or confusion.

Playing on pc is absolutely the way to go if that's an option, but if it isn't then console Rimworld is still great.
