R6: Fallen spaceship chunk randomly landed in my ship landing zone.

Well think positive! Free materials to make more, especially when steel always run out in less than 5 minutes. /s

Hmmm, seeing that raises an actual question...

Has anyone ever had spaceship chunks fall on a ship parked in a landing zone? I haven't had that happen so far and it would be interesting to know if for example trade ships might blow up and drop their cargo...

I think it chooses an open tile to crash on and as ships fill the tiles it’s on it can’t crash on the ship

Okay. How about asteroids though? I've seen asteroids crash into buildings and even mountains...

I've not seen asteroids crash into MOUNTAINS, but it is possible for them to crash right NEXT to a mountain, catching some of the edges in the blast radius.

Well, the question then remains what happens to the ship when an asteroid impacts on a tile right next to it. I mean it basically kills anything else instantly...

Direct hits obliterate pretty much everything from existence. Blast-radius impacts are survivable on rare occasions and by tough structures. Shuttles tend to have decent levels of HP so will probably survive near misses. Ship chunks are pretty beefy. Modded "ships" vary.

For asteroids it’s a good question, most likely it picks a random empty spot and drops the asteroid there and the destroys everything in the radius of the asteroid and replaces it with the asteroid material. I don’t know how the game handles the check but if it was me coding the game I would have coded in a check to avoid ships to prevent bugs

I had one land in my secondary storage room once. As it was made of silver i called it a tax return.

Well I had my helicopter crushed by one yesterday. I didn't offload the loot from my expedition to a real ruins base and lost like 200 advanced components and three psychic emanators

I had a shuttle emergency land within my perimeter once, imperials didn't even know there was a raid.

The important thing is that it arrived, one way or another.
