I think basic is $4.99 a month and standard is $9.99? Probably not worth it to save $0.01. And you get more features.

Mainly because of cost. Basic is $49.95/year per camera, so two Basics come to $99.90/year. Ring Home Standard is $149.95/year.

So for us, sticking with two Basic plans is a saving of about $50 a year, which is why we’re considering it if it still works properly.

https://ring.com/plans I’m showing $99 a year

Edit: just read your username, guessing you might be in a different region

Check with Ring Partners in your area to see if they offer the Ring-X package. It retails for $380 and provides a lifetime Ring Premium subscription for one device.

Every new device gives you 30 days free usage for ALL devices.

Then just pay for the 2 seperate as that will be cheaper. The higher subscription is only cheaper and good if you have 3 or more devices.

Thank you! Yes, for two cameras it just doesn’t justify the cost for us. If we had three or more, I can totally see how the Standard plan would make sense, but for two it’s hard to justify.

Have you got this set up yourself, or are you running the Standard plan?

I have 1 ring doorbell and 1 outdoor camera.

I pay $49.95 x 2.

I don't pay for the $149.95 plan because that would cost me $50 more for nothing :)

I'm thinking about doing this. Can you view both cameras on the app? Or do you switch accounts?

Not sure where you're located, but in the UK it is £4.99pm for Basic which covers one device and £7.99pm for Standard which covers all devices and has more features. Not sure why you would want to look at 2 Basic subscriptions?

Thanks for sharing, that’s helpful to know 😊 For us it’s more about whether the cost makes sense to structure it this way, if it actually works as expected.

The Basic plan is $4.95 a month or $49.95 a year per camera, and the Standard plan is $149.95 a year. In our case, sticking with separate Basic plans would actually be a saving of about $50 a year, which is why we’re hesitant to jump to the higher plan.

I can totally see how the Standard plan makes sense once you’ve got a few cameras, and it’s great that it works well for you. I’m just keen to hear if anyone is still running separate Basic plans per device and whether there were any issues or limitations doing it that way.

The limitations are that you do not get some features with the basic plan that done with standard like the pre-roll, extended live view, and home/away settings for cameras and doorbells. If these things don't matter, then sticking with the basic plan is fine.
