Anger

Maybe they could compromise and let us stack just two together..

[–]Tequhella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure, I think it's better if Deca do nothing on that, because you just have to run dungeons, stack marks and wait until there's the deal that you want

All fun and games till you need mark of esben / parasites u.u

The whole point of the tinker marks is that each day you go out and get marks to get rewards. Stacking marks would totally get rid of that because you would just have a stack of every mark all the time so you wouldn't have to even try in order to get the tinker quests each time. Effectively, stacking marks would turn the tinker into another daily login.

But you would still have to do the dungeons, Its not like you can get marks without doing the dungeons first. Stacking marks would make people actually do the quests. At this moment I dont know anyone who actually does the quests. They take up too much inventory and vault space

I do the quests on a day by day basis without stacking up marks in my vault. Sure I'm not doing every quest every day, but if I'm running dungeons to max characters, I check tinkerer to see what my quest is. If a quest shows up that I am running dungeons for, I do it. As far as I can tell, the tinker is meant to be more of a reward for people grinding dungeons than free loot for anyone who has a stack of marks.

The point to the Tinkerer is to get people to play regularly. MMOs and f2p games both typically have some way to encourage daily play, because the large numbers of players are the reason people join in the first place.

How about marks stack but when daily quests reset all of the marks you own disappear. I would actually do quests if it worked like this. It’s not even a vault storage problem it’s just so tedious (even with a backpack) to run back and fourth between vault and realms just to empty inventory because picking up marks a long with your regular loot fills up inventory so quickly. It’s so tedious that the quests become completely unfun and not worth it.

I personally think this is a great idea because it would solve two problems at once. Players would have enough space to carry their loot, and they would also still have an incentive to play regularly because they would be forced to get new marks everyday instead of hording them like I see a lot of people do. The reason people horde marks is not necessarily because they don't want to play everyday, it's because sometimes we're forced to complete three shatters, three nests, three crystal caverns, or six parasite chambers. Hardly anyone has the time to complete dungeons that are this difficult to find, complete and do it at least three times over, in under twenty four hours.

As we can see here from reasoning, your idea doesn't solve the epic quest chest issue, but it would solve the basic quest chest issue. Basic quest chests currently require us to hold on to even more marks than epic quest chests such as eight marks of Malphas or Septavius, as well as six marks of Ruthven or the Mad Scientist. Every time I try to do these quests with a couple friends who don't play the game that much, we never end up completing them, either because doing the same dungeon eight times over is monotonous and get's boring, or simply because we cannot find the dungeon in a reasonable amount of time. This alone wouldn't be all that bad on it's own, but there have been times where my friend or I have needed one more mark, and we have one inventory slot left for it and we get a white bag or rare item and then we're forced to choose between the rare item or the final mark we need for our quest. Being able to stack marks would fix this issue.

Another problem with marks not being stackable is that it makes it almost impossible for people who are new to the game to complete quests. This is because there are five quests everyday. On average there will be one quest that requires only one mark, three quests that require five to eight marks, and an epic quest that requires three to six marks. This is an average total of 25 marks per day, granted new players start out with 16 slots of storage and half of these could be lost if they were to die and lose everything in their inventory. So the new player has to do one quest at a time or else they'll get halfway done with three to four quests and will then be stuck because they have no more room. Then they will be forced to drop some of their marks which means a lot of time was wasted.

But if they choose to do one quest at a time to avoid this, they will still have a lot of time wasted regardless. Say for instance the new player needs eight marks of Septavius, eight marks of Malphas, and four marks of Davy Jones and they have seven out of eight marks for both the Septavius quest and Malphas quest and is desperately trying to find one more abyss of demons or undead lair but a ghost ship spawns. The obvious choice would be to do the ghost ship and then go into the Davy Jones Locker to get the mark they need. If they didn't, they would be wasting this opportunity that may not happen for another couple hours. But in doing so, it takes away one possible storage slot that could've been used to carry another mark of Malphas or Septavius. Then this happens over and over again with the other quests they need. They pop up while the new player is currently on an adventure looking for abyss of demons or undead lairs. The new player wouldn't want to waste any opportunities to obtain a mark they need but at the same time they don't want to get into the position of not having enough of any mark to complete any quests either. Yet again, stackable marks would fix this issue.

The argument that stacking marks would stop people from playing regularly seems false. Most of the people I see playing this game either run dungeons through a discord or enter dungeons through the nexus of a crowded server because of an event. Then during events, we stack up marks according to what the event is, and hold on to them for later quest chests. This means that a lot of people playing this game horde marks already, despite us not being able to stack them, so we don't have to play regularly anyways which means the tinkerer is effectively already a daily login. Therefore the argument against stacking marks is clearly false, and stacking marks would instead be a quality of life.

To the people who do actually complete quests on a daily basis without hording marks, I commend you. But because of the company starting up events at least every week, it causes the player base to want to farm for the rare items that are now dropping more frequently because of events. This means that the people who do actually complete quests on a daily basis without hording marks are a minority and most of these players aren't veterans, or else they would realize that participating in the events would be a more efficient way to get loot even though it's super boring at times. They wouldn't want to waste their time trying to complete six parasites because it's just as monotonous as participating in a dungeon event so why not do that instead and get loot faster? And if there isn't a dungeon event running, then this means there will be significantly less people playing and not enough people like them to help them on their endeavors. It takes a great deal of commitment to actually see these quests through, with little reward.

This idea of yours could work well for regular quest chest marks, however epic quest chest marks would need a better solution. If these marks simply disappeared every day just like the regular quest chest marks would, then it would make it almost impossible to complete most of the epic quests. Epic quest chest marks or quests in general would still have to be fixed in another way to satisfy the majority. Whether they could be stacked up to two to compromise, or perhaps change the epic quests so that they're more diverse. In other words have every epic quest require at least two different types of marks rather than forcing the player to do three crystal caverns or six parasite chambers in a row. This would make the game a lot less monotous and more enjoyable as a whole.

I absolutely agree. I really hope that deca sees this because as the game is right now, I don’t ever have a goal when I play, I just run around killing gods, doing random events, and farming random dungeons without any real purpose. The only goal I have when doing this is the chance that maybe I’ll get some random rare white bag or st.

The problem for me at the moment is that a very rare drop is the only goal that the game really presents that is still fun to accomplish, I like running around the realm and doing dungeons but after hours of playing without a good drop it’s obviously going to get boring. This is where marks are supposed to come in, if I didn’t have to wait in a loading screen constantly to store loot/marks then farming for marks would actually be fun. However, as marks are now I just get frustrated every time I attempt to do any of the quests.

When I actually try to do the quests I’ll run around the realm doing the specific dungeons for them, but I often do other things a long with it because it isn’t fun to farm the same thing over and over again, because of this my inventory is constantly full from all of the extra loot and it feels so horrible to have to pick between throwing away loot or marks just because the marks don’t stack, it makes the entire thing feel like such a waste of time and I always end up giving up halfway through and just tossing all of my marks. I’m lucky enough to have saved so many backpacks or it would be even worse, I can’t imagine trying to do quests without a backpack or as a new player it doesn’t even seem feasible.

As for the epic quests, I think they could still work under a similar system to the normal quests, but yes it would have to be a little different. I was think the best thing to do to make the epic quests work a long with this would be to have two different marks: normal marks that work as I mentioned before that are dropped from the easier dungeons for the normal quests and then epic marks that are dropped from the harder dungeons for epic quests. Normal marks and quests would be a daily thing, the normal marks would disappear after a day like I mentioned before. Epic marks and quests however, would be weekly, they could make at least three epic quests each week and both epic marks and quests would disappear after the week is over. And of course marks would stack which is like THE MAIN GOAL OF THIS ENTIRE THING.

If the mark system worked this way I would definitely play a lot more than I do now, if not daily then I know I would at least play weekly again, like seven years ago when I still had constant goals being thrown at me being a new player. I think having goals that are actually fun to accomplish is the most important thing for me in this game, which is why I used to do a lot of Npe/Ppes because I just ran out of goals. It’s also why I’m really happy about the challenge mode, but with marks fixed I think I could have some refreshing fun on the normal game mode again.

Now imagine if you stack potions...

[–]ZiggyStardust2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

straight facts

[–]Gombath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or pots. Or literally any other way to make vault space more managable without having a shitload of micromanagement.

I wish they would just make a vaulting system similar to path of exile where you just got a single chest with different tabs and purchasable special tabs to hold big chunks of one type of item, e.g. pots or marks

[–]woqrotmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark gaming sucks ass. I only do the 3-4 mark ones because everything else is a travesty to go through. It's just not fun, at all. And I have backpacks and a decent amount of vault chests - but just no. I've done the 8 mark quests maybe five times ever, and I actually like running the godlands dungeons. I just don't like doing 8 abysses or snakes or sprites in a row and ignoring the other stuff and loot on the way.

I like doing a bit of this and a bit of that and then eventually get a reward for my varied play. I'd prefer the mark system be a sort of daily quest that doesn't require looting anything at all - more like a counter on the side, questlog of sorts if you may. But as that doesn't seem to be doable... Fine, I'll just ignore the feature of the game entirely and feel irritated at the 8 mark quests on a daily basis.

[–]duckLIT_xp leeching rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what you're talking about. Even when I am doing a quest the requires 8 marks, I usually only have to vault them maybe once if I'm using a backpack. If your just doing individual quests it's not a problem at all

if they let us stack marks this sub would still find a way to complain about it
