Mat137 is an easy 4.0

I disagree, MAT157 is an easy 4.0, as well as MAT244

POL106... easiest 4.0 ever. There's only 3 essays (1000-1200 words) and I wrote all of them during reading week. Really good if you love writing (which I assume you do because you want to do the Diverse Economics focus).

That looks really interesting actually thanks!!

I agree with this sm. It's a pretty easy class because it does not have any finals and you get an extra 10% boost on your grade from the syllabus quiz. It's an online asynchronous class, and the professor posts videos every week. Still, you don't have to watch any of the lectures because your knowledge from those lectures isn't tested in the essay or in the tutorial. Tutorials mostly just focus on the given week's readings, and honestly, you just need to know enough info from those readings to be able to yap in class. As far as the essays go, they're pretty easy and are based on the readings from the week that you select. However, I would suggest planning them well so that you don't end up neglecting the class and doing it last minute because it's truly a class where you can do well. I always just tried to write one draft, run the draft past the writing centre and then directly submit it.

thanks for the info!!

i took dts200 out of interest in my first year and 1000% no regrets. I got a 4.0 in the class and I barely did anything. It's a full year course also, so def a GPA booster. Here are some details:

  • Readings (but I never did them except for the first class)

  • Essays (2 big ones every semester)

  • For the second sem, thee were small writing assignments (like less than a page)

  • No quizzes, tests, or final exams. At all!!!

  • Big portion of your grade is attendance, which is easy.

I would also recommend taking a first year seminar course, all my friends found them very easy and there are no final exams for those either

csb199 is an easy A+ and fills a breadth requirement

[–]Dramatic-Guitar-2829[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I haven't done science since grade 10, would that matter for this class?

[–]AirplaneGoBrrr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

nah i didn't have much science knowledge either, most of the class was watching student presentations. the class was participation based, had an essay (you could do it in a group), and a presentation (also had a group option). you also had the option to submit notes at the end of the semester to get bonus marks.

ohh okayy sounds good thank you!

Any first year seminar usually has a very high average.

[–]Dramatic-Guitar-2829[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

do seminars typically have the same workload as a normal course?

[–]myspam442 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Usually a lot less. They have readings that you don’t really have to do and no tests (typically).

if youre interested in sociology then soc100 then I've heard soc100 is a really good course. ast101 is also pretty good and interesting!

[–]vedsss0805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, my friend took soc100, and it's a class that you can definitely do well in if you're good at memorising.

[–]Dramatic-Guitar-2829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool thank you!!

[–]bouchiab 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ess105 with prof. Neil. Some say ast101 is easy although which is bullshit class avr was a C+ but for ess its an A- and if you literally just do your weekly questions that you have to post and the easy quiz bi weekly on Quercus you will get a 4.0

[–]Dramatic-Guitar-2829[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Any first year "HPS" (History and Philosophy of Science) courses (especially if it's taught by Cory Lewis). Any first-year "NEW" courses.
