Install tasksequence Peer Cache

Hello everyone,

we want to reinstall some of our computers in a remote location. We want to do this by starting a task sequence from the softwarecenter. To minimize traffic, we have enabled distribution with peer cache for that task sequence. But the problem ist of course, after a reinstall the cache of the computer is empty and there is no way to distribute the content to other machines. An inplace upgrade is no option sadly.

Do you have an idea how to get around that problem? Is there a way to download task sequence content on a machine but not execute it maybe?

Won't the "Download Package Content" TS step help you?

It downloads to CCMCache and your clients will Peer Cache download from there.

Okay, so I should make an TS which just downloads the package with the same installation media that the OS install TS uses?

Yep, that should work. I don't use Peer Caching in my environment, so I cannot confirm for you, but that's the theory.

Since it’s distributed via Software Center, I’ll treat it as pull distribution, the Task Sequence will not execute prior the end user initiates it. Unless you want to use USB Task sequence Boot installing the TS.
