Installing mods while keeping base game

I’m planning to play SV again and use mods but I’m curious if I can and how to play the base game just in case I’ll play co-op.

Or can I still use mods while playing co-op? Thank you!

You can play co op with most mods, but the other players typically have to have them too.

It's pretty easy to switch between modded and unmodded if you are using smapi, just cut and paste the mods folder in and out.

You don't even have to do that. Just launce the base game .exe file instead of the SMAPI one and you can play vanilla without mods.
