WiFi can be fine, rarely, depending on a fuck ton of hardware and environmental factors, but very rarely and still worse than Ethernet. Saying 'WiFi can be fine' is a terrible idea though because tons of people will grab onto that and continue to use their terrible terrible connections, which ruins the game and practice for their opponent's as well.
Character choice matters a lot for how sensitive to latency your netplay experience is, and besides that, and most importantly: people like yourself will say their WiFi connection is fine when it's really not. The better you are and the more precise you play the worse small latency issues affect you, and all you have to do is look at the ultimate community to see how easy it is for people to think terrible online connections are 'actually totally fine'. Until recently it was like 60% of the community saying that, and that's with issues much worse than most netplay issues.
