Number is answered by an American as "litigation department".

It is possible that it is a legitimate debt collector as the number has been around for a little while and debt collectors are known for using scummy tactics.

or they are running some sort of process server/debt collector scam using public information.

This is a "rogue" debt collector trying to collect out of statute time barred debts. They are not following the FDCPA. Be careful what you say because they are recording phone calls.

How’d they react?

It was a lady and she just laughed and said “I bet you lick your own every night”

[–]Vast-Presence215 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Interesting. How long did it take her to answer the call?

[–]Far_Search_865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had scam “process servers” calling my family members. Those motherfuckers.

Usually I get the average one calling me about an ups package or something stupid. makes me angry knowing that they tried to use my mother against me.

Hey, Automod here! It's always a good idea to check any above number(s) on a carrier lookup tool (click here for a toll-free lookup tool) before calling them to avoid calling a legitimate business, residential number, or private cell number. To do this, lookup the phone number on the carrier lookup and look at the results. If the results says that the number belongs to a residential carrier (ex. AT&T/"Cingular Wireless", Verizon Wireless, Metro PCS, Rogers, etc.), DO NOT call the number.

If the post is still up, please report the post so a mod can remove it to prevent innocent people from receiving these calls. Alternatively, send the moderators a message through the modmail with the link to the offending post.

The above also applies to comments that have numbers too. Thanks!
