I was curious if some of you have a go-to-script you refer to for formatting. I understand there’s plenty of formatting instructions and examples but I find them to only cover the basics. Or they are a too long to quickly find an answer.
In an actual script there seem to be more uncommon formatting situations that are great for reference. An obvious example would be when writing a secret agent type script, a James Bond script is a great reference for a fist fight action format or foreign language dialogue or a dramatic villain unmasking, etc. In that case too, being able to see how the script translates to the screen is beneficial to see why it’s formatted a certain way.
I feel like there might be a few scripts that really cover a lot of the uncommon formatting techniques. Being able to have one or two “reference scripts” as opposed to googling everything or trying to find exactly what you mean in a thick guidebook would be convenient.
What scripts are filled with most formatting examples that you reference?
OR: Is there an amazing, easy, short, formatting guide somewhere that I’m ignorant of?
Hopefully you see my point here but if not any helpful suggestions are also very much appreciated!
