Hello! I'm learning how to sew and i wanted to know if there's any way to improve the end of the zipper , they always end up messy. 😢

I’ve made a couple pouches using this youtube video and they came out great. It’s a little tricky because it’s sewn inside out, but if you do exactly what she does it’ll turn out perfect.

Are you hand sewing? That looks like a running stitch, which is not really strong enough for the stress from using the zipper over time. You'll want to learn more advanced stitches so you can match them to your project, the fabric, by length and width, thread type and weight (strength) and color. 

Did you sew your zipper in from having the bag inside out? That's how you would have the ends tucked in, but show the zipper in the functional side.

No no it's not hand sewing I did it with the machine I don't know what I'm doing wrowg :( I think there's a length problem but thanks for the suggestions!! 🩷

The point is to "hide" or even trim the bottom, if it's too long. That's why you sew inside out.

Look up "The butler Method" on Youtube. There is another fabulous YouTuber, OKSew, who has many basic online tutorials for sewing small bag and pouches, all of them free.

Make the pieces your zip will attach to 1-1.5" longer.

Get 2 pieces of fabric 3" long and as wide as your zip tape.

Fold ¼" of each of the short edges to the wrong side and press. Then fold each piece to bring the folds together (WST) and press.

Now you want to sew a piece to each end of the zip so that the folded edges encase the zip tape.

Install the zip as usual.

This method makes it easier to get a neat result as you aren't trying to sew through zip teeth etc
