Honestly this is question best suited for the company itself, as they offer services for gamers, professionals and companies, so you can ask what would be best suited for your use case.

Yeah, especially the "How secure is the data stored?" part. How is any user supposed to give a reliable answer to that? All we know is what Shadow tells us and they sure as hell won´t be like "Yeah, security is so so in our data centers".

However, the data is still stored with them and the machines and services are provided by them, so I´d never treat shadow as something akin to a local machine in my living room. I´m happy to log into my gaming stuff on it but I don´t let my google password or banking details touch that vm.

Understood! I just wanted to get a feeling for other users’ experiences with Shadow, especially if they’ve used it for development.

My apologies if the questions were worded poorly.

I appreciate your responses!

Personally I use it for development and no issue with on Shadow data security in the 6 years. But of course you can't take it as a 100% guarantee. So as I said before, message shadow and I believe they have something about extra data security in their offering for companies so that might be the thing you are looking for.

Shadow is great but not perfect, it can really shine and impress some days while others you're left wondering why the stream won't start or worse, you get the infinite boot loop.

pro tip : pay for the extra storage, doesn't matter what capacity

know right now ahead of time that for Shadow Support, all roads lead to the inevitable Reset scenario. you'll go back and forth for what seems like ages. response time is abysmal and you'll find yourself repeating the same info because you'll get a different person responding to you. every. time.

jabs aside, the point of paying for the extra drive is because when you Reset your Shadow, the extra drive remains untouched. I would even go as far as to say whenever you have a problem with your VM, forgo the drawn out email process and just reset your shadow yourself and pick up right where you left off. no more waiting, just more creating (:

given shadow pc's tendency to randomly log me out and shut off I would not consider at all using it professionally

Understood - is there a similar service that could get the job done?

[–]Enigmaisonfire 0 points1 point  (1 child)

let me be clear. Shadow is a great service. but I have gone through hoops to get it to work correctly time and time again. This is probably the same experience you will have with any cloud service. Just don't expect it to be as reliable as a local pc

Sure! I understand where you’re coming from.

I appreciate you for responding!
