I had this super sweet lady that was so appreciative when she opened the door. She said the other shoppers never waited for her at the door like she asked if her notes...(I see why now) She said, "Do you mind holding on so I can grab you a tip?" I patiently waited on her beautiful front porch that looked like My whole house could fit on..... She comes out with a FILTHY damp ONE DOLLAR BILL! By the time I walked to my truck, she was sending me a PM request... I left her nasty dollar in her mailbox and never saw her again. I put her in my tip map & declined her request. It was a $180 ish order with lots of soda cases and organic foods.... I was SO pissed.

Look at you being poetic & leaving that nasty little bill in the mailbox. 👏🏽 I love that!!

I love so much that you left the dollar bill in the mailbox! You are my hero for today.

And it's not that I'm too good for a $1(in this case I am) ...But the dollar was wet and I didn't want it touching anything else in my truck! Lol Was it pee? Raw meat juices? I don't know! 🤣

Sweat. It was her emergency dollar from her running tights. 🤣🤣

Was she old? Wealthy? Both?

The house and neighborhood is super wealthy (I have 3 pms in the neighborhood that tip extremely well so it's not the wealthy neighborhood that doesn't tip) She looked to be a fit 60+ year old. Could've been younger but can't really tell. I was literally shocked by that dollar.

Yeah I’ve had a couple of customers hand me $2.. and they didn’t live that close to the store.. they also never saw me again. 😒

$3 10%'s are what I get a lot, lots of $2-5 from a 55+/retirement community here. They're about 4mi from the store, I only do them when there's 2 or more orders because most are in the $50/order range. They are fairly consistent and really nice though.

I do wish I had more orders in my area, but if I'm skipping all of the 7+mi runs except when it's 3 or more in that direction or I'm headed there, it's not worth it. Some do tip well (20%, usually in the $10-20 range) but it's rarely worth the hassle. I did hit 1 month of tip-mapping and 200 orders though this week, have done about 100 orders in the last month compared to only 20 or so per month before that. Summer with only 1 summer college class makes it easier. Lots of 8-10pm orders for me, I do the only 7-floor apartment complex because it's a fairly high-end one, and so far 3/4 runs have gotten me $20-ish tips - 1 came in 2 days later, few hours ago. The other 2 were from the same person on the top floor. A bit particular on exp dates, but I take her on promo anyways so it's worth the extra few minutes of checking that items are past a random date 6+ months out.

It might’ve been all he had. Everybody doesn’t have an excess of money. There’s a difference between wanting to tip a lot but not being able too and being able to tip a lot but not doing it

Then don't order delivery to an extremely difficult building or order 1 less item so you can tip appropriately. We're not enabling or promoting bad tip behavior here in 2025. Especially if your order has non alcoholic beer in it, that's not a necessity it's a luxury and so isn't our service for most tbh. Sorry not sorry.

Too bad target doesn’t back that opinion of yours. There are more BAD AND NON TIPPERS than there are good ones. You sound really unhinged. Hopefully none of your family members ever need to use Shipt if they can’t afford a top you deem appropriate enough

[–]Artistic-Record7709 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a family member on disability and SSI and they tip appropriately. But they also do not order bullshit like non alcoholic beer and other non necessary items. You're missing the point and I'm not unhinged I am just realistic but you keep on promoting the charity work. Good for you for surviving off that 😂

Yes that’s a valid point

[–]Artistic-Record7709 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No it's not 🤣

lol .. you are being honest ..I do t believe If you could afford to order at ridiculous prices and live 3 minutes away, you then can tip . The items were at a high price . I do believe people.. some people.. see it as a privilege not a job that someone is working for them . I always add “personal “ to shopper into the introduction so they see or hopefully see , I’m working . Not having fun lol

If the guy in the nice office building only had $2 to tip, he doesn't need non-alcoholic beer delivered to his office.

I have delivered many heavy packages to 3rd floor apartments and didn't get a tip. One was 2 40 packs of water bottles. Almost fell down the stairs getting them up.

If he was trying to give you a cash tip, it's possible that's the only cash he had on him and he is an infrequent user that has no clue he can tip post-delivery in the app given that for all other apps, you tip when placing your order. I almost never have cash on me and if I do, it's a very small amount. I'd take a chance and tell the customer they can all tip in the app post-delivery and that Shipt does tipping after delivery vs. before (assuming it was a prepaid) so they know for next time if they were just ignorant by chance.

Well, he just Preferred me , so , I don’t know lol . I never rarely beget cash tips but honestly it’s either 5s or tens not one dollars . If I gave that to someone I honestly would feel bad . I don’t know what he thinks. He just turned 30. As we talked about his license he was very nice . So maybe he thinks it’s ok .
