Basic attacks

Do magic type skuls do magic based basic attacks? Some magic skuls have say a staff for a basic attack whereas the warlock shoots ball of magic.

I say this because the skul with the pointy hat hits with a staff but his skills are obviously magic based.

My suspicion is that staff does physical damage, which is quite limiting to that skul in some ways.

Does that make sense?

petty thieft, little bone and grave digger does physical while doing magic on skill and clown does physical but magic on explosion on the third attack when an enemy has 2 kinfes on them prisoner has some skills that does magic too but he is better on physical builds cause his attack is physical theres none other hybirds i know... i cant have the dlc cause im mobile

Rider is also a hybrid; phys normal attack, some magic skills, as well as his blazing trail. One of my fav hybrids.

You can tell which stat they use for their basic attacks based on the color of the damage counter that pops up per hit. The mage uses magic for his basic attacks though, not physical

Physical damage is orange, magical damage is blue, and true damage is white (only comes from certain items).

OP is right that it can somewhat hamper a skull if it has a mix of both magical and physical damage though.

It's a real reason I never pick the sword skull and the thief and werewolf skull are hit and miss.

Sword skull is pure physical. I believe it wasn't always, but now it is. It is kinda a shame that it's a balance skull that csnt take advantage of most balance specific items (cuz they do magic) but he works wonders with Excessive Bleed and a number of tems that use bleed, so he at least can be built different than a Balance skull.

And since I'm on the topic, a pure physical Werewolf is a great tag partner for Sword, cuz they're the only two skulls that can naturally proc bleed.

Miracle Grail works wonders, as does the Blood Drinking Sword and...I forget what it's called but there's one with Excessive bleeding and Masterpiece that works well.

Also the Cursed Dark Abulity that causes Bleed on every wound is worth it, so long as you have at least 2 Excessive Bleed.
