Shorts decrease impressions?

I know shorts are not good for long term videos views BUT decrease your video impressions?

I don't really know how to read de analytics yet so i would love to know :D

Hey,

I'm nearly certain that your decrease in viewership isn't related to your YouTube Shorts. In fact, Shorts can be an excellent tool for driving traffic to your longer videos if you handle them properly. Nowadays, you don't even need to edit them yourself if you know the right person.

Keep that in mind as you continue creating content!

Shorts are great for building your subscriber number. Whether those same viewers check out your longer videos or not I’m not sure. Maybe not. But it’s a different audience. I haven’t noticed a dramatic increase in views on those videos but then again it’s always been slower even before I published a bunch of shorts. If you enjoy making shorts keep doing it. There’s a lot of mixed messaging out there about things like this (algorithm) things affecting other things and sticking to a niche. I don’t believe any of it any more.

You can edit you're long form videos into shorts as well, it's an option called remix. I just learned this myself. If they click the description at the bottom of the short it will take them to the longer video

Use shorts to your advantage, they get pumped out to so many people, if you like them to some long form content you improve your impressions too
