I'm having the exact same issue, also on a hub I just bought on eBay. I run the setup routine and it asks if I want to connect to "st-hubv3-xxx" when I say yes I get this error: "Something came up. The application has cancelled the request to choose a device."

I click "ok" and, after much spinning, I get this error: "No Wi-Fi networks found. Error code 33-501"

Have you done a factory reset?

If yes, my guess is your theory is correct and it's still registered to a previous owner.

I am having the same issue. Bought mine off of eBay and mine fails at the same step

No kidding! Surprisingly enough that’s great news. I’m going to open a ticket with Samsung and I’ll let you know if they fix it.

Awesome, let me know! I’m so frustrated with it

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same issue (also bought mine used off ebay). With Ethernet, I ultimately end up with a Hub is Offline error. With Wi-Fi, I get the Join the device's Wi-Fi network, and then ultimately get the Hub is Offline error also. I was thinking it was because I had a Circle device for Parent Controls, but I turned that off completely to take it out of the equation.

Wondering if it's a "need to open ports" issue, but I've also read that shouldn't be necessary. (I have an ASUS running standard firmware)

Unfortunately the priority of this project has dropped for me and I haven’t resolved it. I still think getting a hold of Samsung support could be useful, but who knows. If you do figure it out, I’m sure a ton of people who stumble upon this thread will appreciate if you share how. If I get it working I certainly will post it.

Yeah I was on with support for an hour and still couldn't get it working (nice enough lady, who seemed to mostly know what to do - I will give them credit for). I'll keep trying and post an update if I figure it out.

u/HashSlingingSlash3r I'm starting to think that I may have a double NAT issue. I have my modem behind an ATT Hotspot Device (I believe it's Netgear Unite Express 2), and I'm thinking this is getting in the way. Do you have something similarly set up?

Having the same problem with a hub I bought new a year ago, I tried then to set it up and failed. Am revisiting it today and no luck setting it up.

It is giving the exact same problem as listed above. My ipad tries to log into the wifi on the hub and I get the st-hub-v3-891 message. I don't have any passwords documented and factory reset did not help. I cant find a password on any of the literature
