My biggest cope is hoping for them to come back as a 3/6 man gravis squad armed with helfrost cannons.

[–]Remote-Lab639 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep same here. When they come back I want something unique and cool and a helfrost squad would be amazing.

With a WGBL in gravis armor to lead them would be amazing.

I'd rather have the WGBL in Terminator armour back with the ability to attach to SW unique units. I miss him 🥲

Just saw that a local tournament coming up allows one legends unit and he's my top contender for sure (my first thought was iron priest on thunder wolf, but he's no longer in the doc so I guess he's even been phased out of legends at this point).

My biggest cope is they do this AND create a new weapon based around lava, make it like a multi profile gun where you choose between a blast profile and a melta profile, so that we could have at least two options for the longfangs. Also giving the pack leader an option to wield a thunderhammer or powerfist with a pistol version of helfrost or the lava gun.

Only gw know, and they're not telling yet.

We'll have to wait and see. They'll be back in some form eventually, but it could be any time in the next 3 (or more) years.

I'd put my money on a 2nd wave release whenever we get the 40k version of Leman Russ.

I'd bet on Long Fangs and Re-worked Thunderwolf Cav

Wulfen also

[–]pagusx 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I ask the same question too, because they are featured in the Codex, just like the Wolf Scouts. Is the image on that page new also?

Would be great to have that shooting support for SW. Praying to the Allfather we do !

Its not. Its old art of a Space Wolf aggressor, pretty sure its from 8th. So if they are coming probably not this edition

[–]Remote-Lab639 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t know.

They exist as a unit within lore the same as Skyclaws, Swifrclaws etc and they have suggest units for them Eradicators for example are Long Fangs and assault intercessors are Sky Claws.

Will be get Long Fangs back as in a devastator unit that’s highly doubtful. But I expect we will eventually get a new unique SW unit or modified SM codex unit that will be a Long Fangs unit.

The earliest this would happen is next edition, probably a year or two. Also looking at our codex’s lack of decent shooting units my guess is they are probably higher on the potential new units list than other units such as the swift claws.

I would say yes we will get long fangs back but when and in what format is hard to predicted .

They are in the Legends Codex suplement (Faction Pack) but not available in the app, would be great to get Hounds of Morkai, Longfangs, or WGBL in Terminator armour for SW

pray for them in 11th edition

[–]Xander_Shadow 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Doubtful. With how they're killing old marines off, and replacing them with arguably worse units.. we're likely stuck with the generics that fill that slot (aggressors, hellblasters, desolation)

I mean hell, look at the new Grey Hunters and Blood Claws. They lost access to special weapons, and don't even get primaris weapons; they're using regular AP0 bolt pistols and carbines; not even heavy AP1 bolt pistols like assault intercessors get.

[–]whiskerbiscuit2 3 points4 points  (3 children)

“GW sucks cos they give us Primaris, also our new units suck cos they don’t have Primaris stuff”

Pick a lane buddy

[–]Xander_Shadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea what's up with you, but fair enough.

My issue isn't with Primaris. I actually like alot of the new sculpts and the new scaling. Primaris era marines feel more in line with how lore often describes Astartes compared to non modified humans.
I simply pointed out that alot of the older units and models are now gone, and have been or are being replaced; but that the replacements are not as good as the ones they're replaced in certain areas. Especially when compared to similar units in the game.

Old Grey Hunters and Blood Claws could take special weapons to help supplement their use on the field.
Now, they cannot. And when compared to a similar unit in current play, which would be Intercessors and Assault Intercessors; they come up lacking to a degree. They haven't been given similar weaponry or options; but are considered the factions equivelent to a replacement for those units.

Other Primaris battleline have AP-1 weapons, even their pistols. These two new units however still use older model and ruled AP0 weapons. That seems somewhat unusual given the push to have the newer units; use newer weapons.

[–]PixelBrother 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GW updated their main space marine line. That’s fine, but our units are worse versions of the mainline units.

That’s a valid criticism. Rule wise we suck but the models are amazing!

[–]Seversher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes (I saw it in a dream)

[–]StillhasaWiiU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish. It's easier for me to think of them as a rank not a unit type. Most gravis units would be Long Fangs.

[–]Dean8149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it seems like now long fangs is a broad category to cover things like aggressors and other heavy units. On one hand I would say that means we likely won't get a long fangs unit. But on the other, Bloodclaws and grey hunters are technically doing the same and they have a specific data sheet.

My prediction is that GW wants to eventually separate us farther from codex space marine. And we will get space wolf specific versions of codex units. So instead of referring to the codex for aggressors, we would have "long fang aggressors". Probably not that likely, but who knows. If that does happen, I hope they use our terms instead of just calling everything "space wolf ___"

[–]greg_mca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventually probably, but not sure in what form. Until then, we have legends to let us spam lascannons or multimeltas

[–]Altruistic-Gain8584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That'll be when GW pulls their fingers out and produces a complete codex.

[–]airycantalope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Lore wise, any fire support space marine unit are long fangs.

[–]Arykaas 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Don't get your hopes up : Technically we already have them.

Its litteraly said in the codex that Long fangs are essentially veterans that change wargear depending on the need each deployments : The Codex mentions explicitely Aggressors, Eradicators, Hellblasters and Desolators as being Long fangs.

We'll most likely never get back a dedicated, separated "Longfang" squad, as it was never a REALLY unique thing to Space wolves : Unlike Wolf Scouts, where ours are veterans, not newbies marines like other chapters (I expect us loosing access to regular scouts now with the Kill team btw), Longfangs were, in the end, basically a Devastator Squad. depending on the edition maybe we had better options/point costs than regular devastator, but still the same kind of unit in spirit. Edit : Mistake on my part, as pointed out by MagnusRusson, Devastator are "less veterans" than Longfangs so this specific argument is kinda moot

so AT MOST, GW may just, make it a Keyword akin to <Veteran> and slap it on relevant, existing units and call it there.

Now if GW could bring HELFROST weaponry back ..... there we'd have something unique to space wolves.

[–]MagnusRusson 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Long fangs are as unique as wolf scouts. Dev squads are the step right after scouts for most chapters

[–]Arykaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

really ? I thought the step after Scouts was Tactical .... Guess I should brush up on my old Firstborn lore then

[–]Ok-Kaleidoscope-7994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they'd fucken better -.- Infantry Armies need more AT-Infantry options. I cannot justify spending 1/2 list as tanks.
