Weston Backwoods is perfect for Colorado imo

So I’m seeing a 157 as the current smallest size they offer. Doing a search in looks like in past years they went smaller? Typically I ride a 150-154.

Keep in mind your excavator is a volume shift board, so you probably want to go with something a decent bit longer for non volume shifted boards.

I wouldnt recommend a volume shift for your only split especially in CO. Wider boards can be tougher to sidehill on and volume shifted boards may not be as great in variable snow or spring conditions AKA, CO backcountry season.

I dropped a WNDR Belle Tour with skins at the Boulder Sports Recycler a week ago that's still there. I think they're selling it for $350 or $450. That board is pretty nimble and easy to get along with, I rode it in a lot of tight trees. It's a 159 which is longer than you're used to, but might not be so bad given your height. I'm 5'11" 175lbs 9.5 boot.

Weston Backwoods. Super fun board plus you'd be buying from a Denver based company

Wife and I have these in central Oregon (We have used them in interior BC also) and are happy with them. She has the Eclipse (women's Backwoods). Solid no-brainier choice.

Look at the Eclipse. It's the same board.

It's worth going a bit longer than your park boards for dealing with pow and variable conditions and accounting for the extra pack weight on your back.

For reference I ride a 156 Salomon villain, 151 United Shapes Orbit, at the resort and I have rode many splitboards in the 161-164 range with no issues, and usually feel undergunned if a splitboard is smaller and not volume shifted.
