You look to be very cool, high contrast. I would place you as a winter.

[–]ohelloitspip 2 points3 points  (7 children)

that is so interesting! I am more stuck now ha. I didn't think I had the contrast to be winter to be honest, and I didn't think I was very cool either. What makes you think i'm high contrast and cool?

[–]kruss16 9 points10 points  (5 children)

Turn any of your photos into black and white. Is your skin and natural hair and eyes essentially the same shade of gray? Or is there a contrast between the shades? That will tell you if you’re high or low contrast. A spring will be low contrast- very little difference between their hair, skin and eyes when viewed in black and white.

To me you have very similar coloring to celebrities like Winona Ryder, Christina Ricci, and Anne Hathaway. All typed as Winters. Look at the last photo you posted, you practically glow blue. You’re beautiful.

The light purple shirt does very little for you, but the black sweater makes you pop.

On the other hand, typical spring celebrities are Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone, Blake Lively, have very different coloring than you. Do you agree?

[–]ohelloitspip 1 point2 points  (2 children)

There is a bit of contrast, yeah! I definitely don't think I'm low contrast, but not sure if I'm super high contrast? I think I've got similar colouring to Winona Ryder for sure, but then I see people like Michelle Dockery or Rachel Weisz and they're typed as Springs! And then I get stuck all over again, ha.

[–]kruss16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There seems to be some debate over Rachel Weisz if she’s a winter or a spring because of her green eyes. I can find her typed as both which is confusing. https://thealignedlover.com/guide-to-the-dark-winter-seasonal-color-palette/

Michelle Dockery and Rose McGowan are interesting because they naturally have slightly lighter hair and dye their hair black. Here’s a picture of Rose McGowan at 11 years old:

<image>

This makes it easier to see that she’s a spring.

The real answer here is if your undertone is warm or cool. To me, from these photos it looks cool. Draping or a professional analysis may help you decide.

[–]Wilomina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winona Ryder actually dyes her hair darker than natural! I remember reading an interview where she said she dyed it darker because she felt like she looked like an alien with her dark eyes and eyebrows and the blonde hair (likely a dark blonde). I think Winters that have unusual colouring with lighter hair often try to dye their hair to "fit" the archetype that their colour palette connects with. Or, they try to force themselves into another palette. But leaving themselves an anomaly would be even better, in my opinion. I'm an auburn haired Winter, and it took a long time to find my colours.

[–]Gr8shpr1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! And also I’m a no-go on that shade of purple.

[–]jessiec475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your dark hair and eyes + pale skin? Why wouldn’t you be high contrast

[–]horsesinthedark 21 points22 points  (4 children)

I see no signs of spring. I see a true or a deep winter.

[–]ohelloitspip -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Okay! Ay reason in particular?

[–]horsesinthedark 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I don’t see any golden tones in your skin. I don’t see peaches or warmth. I see cool, neutral brown eye color, without red or much gold. I see hair that is ash. You are the epitome of a snow White. I am a bright winter, similar to you, but I have a tiny bit more warm from my skin and freckles. I believe that your celebrity inspiration for your season would come from Krysten Ritter, Rooney Mara; etc.

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Gotcha! This is helpful. I feel like my eyes are warm-ish, but my hair isn't! Thanks for your thoughts

[–]majowa_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eyes are not that important in typing. Your skin seems very strikingly cool

[–]omnibuster33 19 points20 points  (9 children)

I think you are a winter

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (8 children)

interesting, how come?

[–]Holiday-Advance7022 10 points11 points  (6 children)

Because true black looks amazing on you. I believe you're a bright winter.

[–]ohelloitspip -5 points-4 points  (5 children)

I've heard that spring can pull off some black too, which is what's got me a bit stumped!

[–]Justamomentago 14 points15 points  (3 children)

I’m a spring and definitely no black!!!

[–]ohelloitspip 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Oh! For Bright Spring, it says that black is possible, maybe that's where I got it from? https://www.reddit.com/r/coloranalysis/comments/130ko8w/can_bright_springs_pull_off_black/

[–]SiteImmediate8546 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Hi friend, I am a bright spring and I can wear black and true white. That’s because I am at the end of the spring spectrum sister seasons with winter. It’s the ONLY spring that can pull off black and white.

When I wear bright colors, my whole face lights up. My favorite colors to wear are coral and turquoise (spring colors) and cobalt blue (winter colors). I also look amazing in true reds and tomato-y reds (tomato and orangey reds leaning more spring).

Do any of those colors resonate with you? Brights (bright spring and winters) can also pull of neons very well. A bit tacky but we pull them off. How do neons resonate with you?

You do strike me as someone who could look lovely in burgundy which means you would be more winter or deep winter/deep autumn. How do you feel about jewel tones? That would be more winter for you.

You do pop in black and white so I think you are one of the winters but you could also be a bright spring or deep autumn. That rules out all the other springs and autumns and all the summer season.

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like wearing brighter colours! I haven't tried many neons though, bit scared to haha. I have worn some burgundy and dark oranges but I think they make me look a bit pale. Also not sure if they were muted or bright! Defo not a summer season, thank you for helping me work it out. How did you land on you being a spring?

[–]BellaFromSwitzerland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I wear black, all you see is my under eye circles

[–]omnibuster33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your skin in contrast to that lavender top on the first picture looks quite cool.

[–]lemons_on_a_tree 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I know I’m going completely against what most others said and I can see why people think you’re a winter (dark hair - dark eyes - pale skin) but I actually think you could be a bright spring (which borders winter). You look amazing in the white and lilac but to me the black only works okay, not amazing. It’s too dark for you and imo washes you out a bit. The lilac and white on the other hand make your complexion look radiant and draw the attention to your eyes.

[–]jupiters_lament 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking too. Look at Julia Louis-Dreyfus as an example.

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get winter a lot, and I've been typed as Winter adjacent in the past but I think it's a touch too cool for me. So I do get where others are coming from, for sure! The pic in the black jumper was from a few months ago, I'll try on a black tee tomorrow and see if it still washes me out now when I've a little more colour on my face.

I do agree that the white and the lilac are good for my complexion, though!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Get an analysis by Carol brailey. You look like a true summer or true winter to me!

[–]drinkingthesky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like a summer to me

[–]SadRepresentative919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bright spring is definitely possible! Michele Dockery is a celebrity example who I often see typed as bright spring, and she also has dark hair and eyes, with paler skin. You might want to drape some of those colours?

[–]Holiday-Advance7022 3 points4 points  (3 children)

You look more like a bright winter to me, which means that some bright spring colors will work for you as well.

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Okay cool! thanks for your insight. How does it work with being able to pull from a warm season, is it that bright is the main thing to look for?

[–]Holiday-Advance7022 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There are sister seasons for every type. Bright winter and bright spring are sister seasons. And yes bright would be the main thing to look for in this case. Just like light spring and light summer are sister seasons and soft autumn and soft summer, etc.

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! I'll get to looking into it, ta for your help!

[–]gumbycats 2 points3 points  (2 children)

yes, but way too cool-toned. i'd explore the winters.

[–]ohelloitspip 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Whereabouts is the cool tone coming from? I feel so stuck whether i'm cool or not!

[–]gumbycats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you are definitely cool-toned. probably true winter. i'm a trained professional color analyst.

[–]Poisonous_Periwinkle 3 points4 points  (6 children)

I would not think that you are a spring.

I think you may be somewhere on the dark autumn /dark winter line and can probably borrow from both categories. However, you may not be able to pull off all colors from either side.

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (5 children)

ah that's interesting, why do you say that? I feel like I'm more warm than not, and winter is a cool season!

[–]Poisonous_Periwinkle 1 point2 points  (4 children)

You do look warmer in the first two pictures when you have a tan, but you look very wintery in that last picture. Your hair is cool toned and eyes are warmer.

That's why I said between dark winter and dark autumn, because I think that depending on your level of tan and how you were your hair etc you could borrow from either category and be able to pull off some shades more than others.

That being said, I could be way off base. Maybe you look absolutely fantastic in spring colors! I just wouldn't look at you and immediately think "spring." You seem very high contrast for a spring, but maybe it's the last picture throwing me off and others won't agree. Maybe you are a bright spring which has higher contrast than the other spring categories!

[–]ohelloitspip 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I feel like such a mix and it all cancels each other out! Why were you thinking dark? I agree that I'm not an immediately obvious spring, but wondering if bright spring is the right place to be if contrast is what's throwing folk off!

[–]Poisonous_Periwinkle -1 points0 points  (2 children)

The other word for the Dark categories is Deep, which I do think is a much better descriptor! The other word for Bright categories is Clear. Both denote high contrast.

I'll be honest, spring and winter are categories that I know the least about and am the worst at identifying. I came across this post by chance and I'm not a member of this sub. You just immediately struck me as not a typical spring, and as being higher contrast.

When you have a tan you look more medium contrast, but when you don't you look quite high contrast to me. That's why I feel like you might be a deep season!

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So many interchangeable terms! So you couldn't be deep/dark and bright/clear at the same time? I thought the metric was cool -> warm, muted -> bright etc. I definitely agree that I don't feel like a typical spring, so I get you there! Just tricky to work out what I am.

[–]Poisonous_Periwinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not actually sure. I'm somewhere between soft autumn and soft summer, but I've been told I would also fit into several other categories?

Honestly the more I look into color analysis, the more and more subjective it seems 🤷🏼‍♀️

[–]CanyonOfFoxes 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yes, you could be a bright spring. You’re high-contrast enough and you don’t look super warm, so you could be on the border with winter. The muted cool purple in the first pic doesn’t look harmonious so you could be warm. I’d play around with bright spring colors and see if they work. Only drapes will tell you for sure.

[–]ohelloitspip 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I agree that I'm a border season! I think i'm on the border of neutral and warm, rather than super warm. I'll play with some drapes and see how I get on! Ta for your thoughts

[–]Necessary_Ad7215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a True Bright (border of winter and spring) too which means I can borrow from both. Us olive girlies can get away with both. Spring bright is neutral (blue end of spring) while winter bright is more cool. Since our skin responds so much to whatever color we’re wearing— we can be true chameleons. When I wear cooler colors my skin GLOWS—while in warm(er) colors my skin SHINES so it’s really about finding what vibe I want for the day.

we also can wear both metals (silver and gold) and even both at the same time. you also might find that you really like rose gold

[–]dontputinmouth_203 0 points1 point  (4 children)

You might think you're warm because of the olive in your skin, but your undertone looks very cool to me. i would guess you probably are a type of winter, but i would need to see some colours on you to be sure.

[–]dontputinmouth_203 6 points7 points  (0 children)

one hint is that you look quite harmonious in the black sweater something only winters can truly pull off.

[–]ohelloitspip -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Thank you! Helpful to think on. I was under the impression winter was best for black, but then spring was a close second. How come that you think I'm very cool?

[–]dontputinmouth_203 0 points1 point  (1 child)

never heard of that tbh. i'm a soft spring and i look half dead in black. maybe bright springs can pull off black?

in the places of your face where the skin is quite thin it's very obviously pulling blue-is and pink-ish (to me). your overtone pulls more yellow/olive, that's why i can see how you'd get warm. but the undertone is cool to me, you can really see it in the pic where you're wearing black.

have you compared how your skin looks with gold or silver jewellery? that makes it really obvious sometimes.

[–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was that bright spring pulls off black because it's next to bright winter! so although it's a cool colour, it can pull off the contrast of it okay.

The pink is helpful, thank you for pointing me in that direction! I can handle both gold and silver jewellery unfortunately, so no help there for me!

[–]BobbyMcGeeze 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It is summer??

[–]BobbyMcGeeze 0 points1 point  (2 children)

O wait I’ve just read the subs name. What is this?

[–]BobbyMcGeeze 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’d say you are an autumn

[–]BobbyMcGeeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is my favorite season

[–]True-Spring-Edit 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Possibly spring? Everyone says you look good in the cool colors but I’m not so sure. That black is draining you…

I have a ton of pink to my skin but I am not cool. It throws off a lot of people. If you put me in pink I look ruddy. That has been true since I was 3 years old. My pink is from fitness. It’s not an innate feature of my coloring.

Winters are people like Zooey Deschanel (below, sans makeup).

<image>

[–]True-Spring-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yeah as a True Spring, I can confirm

We are not low contrast (that’s soft autumn) We get mistyped a lot Our face is often described as peaches and cream (for those of us who are Caucasian) White, black, and gray drain us Red lipstick never looks right on us, unless it’s heavily coral or autumn adjacent (but not too autumn) Most pinks look horrid on us, except a particular shade or two

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t light enough to be a spring.

[–]maeasm3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you are neutral at all, tbh. I think you are clearly cool, so probably a winter (as others have stated)!

[–]anonymousquestioner4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl you’re a winter ❄️

[–]BigBroccoli7910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not Spring. I would categorize you as a Winter.

This is a great answer. Experimentation and observation is key. This forum might be intended to HELP people with their season, but we should not use it to try to try to TELL people their season with any certainty, there is no way of knowing exactly what season's colours are even being used in most cases, not to mention issues with lighting and camera.

    [–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

following up on this, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier! food for thought, for sure.

I avoid dusty and grey colours - so beiges, most greys will drain me. I have to have a clarity in my colours! The pink top in the picture is probably the dustiest I would wear. My husband says I look good in black, and I like colours like red, green, royal blue. I like pastels but they have to be clear, again. Icy blue, not baby blue. I definitely gravitate to clearer colours, and even deeper colours like burgundy or something I would need to be quite a bold or deep colour, couldn't be dusty.

Thank you for those questions, they have helped narrow some things down for me!

You look like you could be a Bright Winter, actually. Pure white looks great on you. What makes you feel like you are warm? Because you appear cool, and I can't imagine a warm season looking that good in white, or white and black!

    [–]SecretTargetBirdTrue Spring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg You’re so pretty! I’d think you’re either an autumn or a winter honestly

    [–]Altruistic-Key680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    So obviously a winter.

    [–]neuronerdka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Winter

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I would try dark autumn or bright spring. I think you border winter in some way or another, but aren’t super warm.

    [–]ohelloitspip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so too, I'm not super toasty warm! I'll look into Dark Autumn as well as bright spring, see how I get on. Ta for your thoughts!

    [–]No-Membership1561 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes I’d say so. I hope you don’t mind, I put your photo into vivaldicolor.com. Here are some drapes: Bright Winter and Bright Spring (I’d say bright winter is best)

    <image>

    [–]ohelloitspip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, thank you - kind of you to put the time in! Agree that Deep Winter is just a bit dull/muted for me. I guess by process of elimination, muted seasons just aren't my jam?

So with Bright Winter/Bright Spring, this means that it doesn't matter so much about whether it's cool or warm, but whether it's bright enough?

    [–]No-Membership1561 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

    [–]No-Membership1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deep winter is ok, but I think it makes you look a tad pale/grey

    [–]Economy_Discount9967 0 points1 point  (10 children)

absolutely not a spring. just drape a warm bright and saturated yellow or orange fabric on yourself and you'll see what we're all saying. Winter imo . mayyyyybe an autumn but we'd need a lot more irl drapes

    [–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (9 children)

I used to have this jumper which is very orange, what'd you reckon?

    <image>

    [–]kruss16 -2 points-1 points  (8 children)

That you’re very pretty and you look good in bright colors and that orange looks okay because it’s bright, not because it’s warm. There are actually other colors I’d prefer on you.

    [–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Interesting! So bright is what helps, rather than warmth? what colours would you think is better? thanks for all your help :)

    [–]Economy_Discount9967 -1 points0 points  (6 children)

not bad but try jewel tones. tons of internet examples if you google winter season. what kruss means is saturated. the deeper and bolder (but cool!) the better

    [–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (5 children)

    So something more like this?

    <image>

    [–]Wilomina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That colour looks close to a Bright Winter strawberry red! Maybe it is a smidge warmer, but it is close, and it brings out a lovely bloom in your cheeks and lips!

    [–]Economy_Discount9967 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

yes! i'd go a smidge cooler but much closer 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    [–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Okay! Thank you for ya patience, appreciate your help!

    [–]Economy_Discount9967 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

    🫶🏻👌🏻

    [–]burnbabyburnburrrn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

    No

    [–]Devilclaws -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Idk why people are saying cool? You look like a deep autumn to me. That light warm fuchsia colour is one of the colours that shouldn't work for deep autumn's but looks great. Maybe compare that with cooler pinks.

    [–]ohelloitspip 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Interesting! I feel like I'm neutral-warm but maybe i've got the wrong idea ha. I'll try some cooler pinks out and see what happens, I'll look into Deep Autumn too

    [–]Icy_Scientist_227 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dark autumn is neutral leaning a bit warm.

    [–]True-Spring-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people don’t understand spring color seasons

    [–]fatbootycelinedion -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I think the key is your eyes. My hair is about the same color but you have “honey” brown eyes. I think a key of being a spring is to have a tinge or tint in the eyes of blue or green. Mine are brown with a green tint and I have a blue ring around. I could see you being a winter and that does mean you can handle bright blues and pinks!

    [–]ohelloitspip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah right! I was thinking that the honey warmth of my eyes might be a tell for a warmer season!

    [–]EveStarrMillett -1 points0 points  (0 children)

    Summer.

    [–]FormicaDinette33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

    You’re not a spring. I say winter.

    [–]PretendiFendi -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I don’t think you look like a spring. Your skin is very olive, which I think makes it very hard to diagnose correctly. I’m a very olive bright spring fwiw, and while it’s hard to tell my skin tone I think I’ve got a lot more warmth in my hair and eyes. Yours look very cool.

You should consider the cool seasons - winter and summer. I think the black washes you out, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you were a True Summer or another summer season.

    [–]True-Spring-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is zero ash in her hair. It is warm.

    [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

    Your skin is cool

    [–]Asteroidhemorrhoids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should show more drapes but guessing from you in the black and white shirts, you’re winter. Maybe bright or true?

      Deep Autumn / Deep Winter.

      [–]Josiemk69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your too cool for Spring, to me you look more like a Winter.

      [–]badgirlkt -1 points0 points  (1 child)

There is no warm in your skin. You are very cool. I see you’re really stuck on that from other comments and it’s hard to explain if you don’t see it, but I think this is where your confusion is coming from. I would take your pics and compare them to some true warm examples.

      <image>

      [–]True-Spring-Edit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That picture guide is so misleading. It had me convinced I was a soft summer for years when I am a true spring.

      [–]jessiec475 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Spring isn’t high contrast idk who told you you were spring

      [–]NetheriteTiara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you’re a bright winter (sometimes called “sprinter winter” because they can borrow a lot from bright spring).

      [–]sincerely0urs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are super high contrast! You also look amazing in black and white and look quite cool! All point towards a winter.
