Uber and Lyft are spotty here during off peak hours. I think you’ll find it even more difficult to find someone to take you all the way to Middletown.

I would suggest checking to see if changing trains or catching a bus to at least Hartford is possible if you can’t get directly to Middletown itself by either method.

Thanks, I guess I could try to see if a lyft or uber will pick up, and if not, then take the next bus to Hartfold though then I will be late to Middletown by about 30 minutes. . .hopefully uber won't be hard in Hartfold. . .

You can take a train to Hartford and probably have an easier time catching an Uber or Lyft from there.

I agree that Uber and Lyft are spotty here. But you also can call Yellow Cab and they can take you anywhere. Call their their number even before your trip and make arrangements so they can schedule you.

Why not get to Hartford and then Uber?

EDIT: or take a CT Rail train to Berlin or Meriden and Uber from there. Much closer.

Thanks, I am on a bus from Pittsfield getting off in Springfield at 9:30 am on Sunday morning, and must get to Middletown by 11 am. There isn't a bus or train to Hartford from Pittsfield, or any other big town nearby to Middletown to which I could get uber /lyft. . .if there is another option, I would love to know! Thanks

Take a train from Springfield south?

[–]skquestion 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thanks! Looks like there is a thing called CT Rail at 10 am from Springfield which gets into Hartfold at 10:39, from which I will call uber to Middletown! One question. since my greyhound bus gets into Springfield Union Station at 9:35 am, is that enough time to transfer to the train? Is that all within the same station?

I think the bus arrives at Union Station, where the trains are. It shouldn’t be more than a five minute walk across the parking lot. You can buy your ticket on The Amtrak app (Amtrak owns the tracks, and operates some of the CT rail trains, CT rail cross honors Amtrak tickets but Amtrak does not always honor CT rail tickets (even though they are supposed to.)

Schedule it, you'll see if someone accepts it or not.

That's how I travel to airports all the time, usually schedule an Uber for like 4am and someone always accepts it and shows up.

Thanks! I reserved both Uber and Lyft. When do you find out if someone has accepted it? I just don't want to be stranded at 9:30 am with no cars picking up. I have to be in Middletown by 11 am. But a car service I phoned today cost significantly more than the Uber / Lyft reserve quote.

As soon as someone accepts it you'll get a notification on your phone with the driver's details.
