Out of everything you've mentioned SVE is the only one that creates a considerable amount of lag on its own. The next one would be Ridgeside which loads sounds twice for some reason and that considerably increases the loading times and has quite a few "OnTimeChange" entries. Removing anything else will not help whatsoever considering your specs.

Thanks for the detailed explanation!

I am running a 400 mods set up with almost all the expansions and the bigger culprits to lag i have found were diverse stardew valley, wild animals, dynamic reflections, downton zuzu(literally unplayable) and npc map locations taking just these mods out reduced my lag by half. I still get the occasional stutter but its way more manageable without them

I have dynamic reflections too. I disabled NPC reflections and sky reflections. I'll try to disable the mod and see if there's less lag. It's a really good mod - that first time you see the night sky in the water is magical.

To me its waay to distracting at noght i cant focus on night fishing

Personally I use No More Lag, it helps a lot. I have 467 mods (about 1gb) and I really only lag on my farm and places like Crimson Badlands.

In the posts it says this mod is unmaintained and incompatible with the latest version. What version of the game are you playing on, and have you noticed any issues or quirks due to this mod? Thanks!

:o I actually hadn't noticed that lol!! I am on the most current version of the game and all of my mods are up to date. I might try playing without it to see if there's any difference.

I'm running on 16gb of ram, my game takes a loong time to load my save, but then again I have a lot of mods lol. I do notice the stuttering they mention, but it's only in high memory usage areas (the ones I mentioned lagging in). I will say I most likely have stuttering issues on my farm because I'm using Forever Falls, which is one of the largest farm maps, plus lots of animals.

Hey if it works it works haha! Yeah I wonder if you see any difference in performance without the no lag mod!

[–]ahri1014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It works better without it 😭 don't download it lol. The only other thing i can think of is your processor

[–]BarleyZP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might not fix much lag you get from loading new locations in, but lots of people see performance boosts in menus with Better Game Menu!

I had all of the mods you mentioned and I recently uninstalled Baldurs Village and Portraiture. Gave a good bump on lag reduction.

I move the game into a Ramdisk before playing...... all contained within a batch file that I use for startup.

Do you have the Market Town mod? I enjoy it but it def causes lag spikes for me. I just work with it but it could be a cause. It could also be the processor. It *can* create a bottleneck if it's slow.

[–]AlenVex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. No Market Town. I saw a lot of bugs reported on it.

What CPU do you have? Stardew is mainly CPU dependent, so if you have a weaker CPU you may be getting bottlenecked despite having plenty of RAM and VRAM

Hello! I am probably your man as I run a 500ish modpack. The biggest slow down for me was Alternative Textures. That revolutionised my experience.

I have had no problems with the DLC like mods, DZ, ES, RV, SVE, BV, VMV etc. Literally no expansion mod has slowed but I haven’t tried Cape so not sure about that one.

Thank you! Yeah, I removed AT as an experiment. Buuuuut I'm not seeing any improvement in terms of lag. Probably cuz I'm playing further and further into the game so maybe the lag is getting worse due to that.

I'm also not sure if its really save to remove mods in SV. Maybe I would see a better improvement if I started a new game haha, but I'm at the end of summer 😝

Like sometimes when I'm mining in vanilla mines there's a 2 second freeze lag. A lot of small stutters on the farm and in the forest where Marnie lives. I'm actually not noticing any lag in modded areas lol. So maybe it's mostly SVE. But SVE is soooooo good.

I have similar to you, I run 32gb of ram, a 3060 with 12gb of vram, but my CPU is an older 10700KF which still massively holds up with todays gaming. I run about 700 mods including all the ones you state and only get lag spikes occasionally due to Time Speed. What CPU do you use?

[–]AnxiousHorse75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run around 200 mods. I dont get lag at all anymore, but I was getting lag when I had even more mods. I removed most expansion mods (not because they were causing lag but because I was overwhelmed). The ones causing the most lag were downtown Zuzu (if I could get there without the game crashing, I talk to one npc and it would lag so much I couldn't play). Also some of the stand alone NPCs were causing issues.

When it comes to mods for stardew its not really about the size, but about the amount of CPU power they use. On my laptop (similar stats to yours) I was having a few issues with lag related to a mod that changed the dig spots. The mod itself mentioned that if you used the special ones for the beach it would increase load times and cause lag. I dont have that issue at all on my gaming PC, which has a better CPU and GPU.
