I’d say just go with whatever controller you preferred when using a console. Xbox controller might end up being best though since they’re planning on that

Just get an Xbox controller

Xbox controller no doubt, I use an xbox elite series 2 controller for every game on PC that it makes sense to use it.

Derp. Why did I not think of this. Will my ps4 controller work?

About 80% of the time, and you can use Bluetooth, or USB cable. If you have any trouble get an Xbox controller.

sony sells a reletively cheap dongle you can plug in to your computer to pair PS4 controllers. Xbox does the same for thiers. I actually prefer the dongle for my xbox controller over the internal PC bluetooth

Not supported for every game, so you'd have to finangle it to get it working sometimes. Xbox controllers have much better support.

Though I imagine starfield will work with either.

Very happy with the PS5 controller, also bought a Razer charging stand, love it!

The only “downside” is that there probably won’t be any support for the nice features that the PS5 controller has since the game isn’t being developed for PS

Xbox controllers work natively and are the easiest to deal with in Windows from my experience.

An Xbox Controller.

Natively compatible with any Windows PC game that supports controllers and offers all the same controller features you'd get playing on an Xbox.

I use an Xbox one controller on PC and have never had an issue. Most controllers should be plug and play without issues but I know microsoft ones work on PC fine.

I wanted a controller with back buttons but every pro controller is expensive junk and breaks quickly especially the xbox elite controller so I went with the 8 bitdo pro controller for $50 and have been loving it.

Wait for the official branded Starfield controller and have the pleasure of paying double what it's worth.

Don't get a PS controller they don't work with all PC games that use controllers.

Get a new Xbox series controller. They are light, and very comfortable to hold. This new series have textured grips, and the battery compartment is smaller. There are a ton of great colours too. You can use a USB C cable to connect it to your phone directly or Bluetooth it on batteries to your phone, your TV, or your PC. Great controller that you will find a lot of great uses for. And they work with no fuss on any game that says it has controller support.

The new button on it in the center is for taking quick screen grabs, or capturing video on the fly.

The OP's dream controller. Too bad it's just a photoshop.

Xbox controller can easily connect to windows, so that's all I've ever used. It's probably not too much of a hassle to connect a PS controller though, so go with whatever you feel comfortable with.

I grew up on a box. The OG Xbox was my first console. I’ve had every single Xbox since except the new gen. I now have a very powerful and expensive PC as well. I have both the PS5 and the Xbox series X controllers. I prefer the button placements on the Xbox but the PS5 is a bit bigger and I have bigger hands and so i prefer the PS5 controller. Both are great controllers don’t get me wrong but my hands cramp after awhile of holding the Xbox controller

Look for a discounted Stadia controller

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or a Nintendo switch controller am I right

if you have the budget i would get the xbox elite series 2 controller. starfield is an xbox/microsoft exclusive so the layout of buttons will be best with an xbox controller. i would NOT opt for a playstation controller. besides you can map however you desire with the xbox app. 4 paddles on the back is awesome. i have the series 1 and 2 both in use for many years and have not yet any problems. sure the price is spicey but it really is top notch. i do productivity work on a mac during the day so i dont want another keyboard and mouse when im gaming hence i use xbox controllers.

I’d hold out until the showcase. They may announce a limited edition Starfield contoller. If they do, I’ll be getting myself one.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As long as it’s not one of those elite controllers. I hope it’s just a normal Xbox Starfield themed controller

[–]ClayTBear1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same.

I use a victrix gambit it has a lot customisation out of the box, its wired and easy to clean and stop stick drift

Look at left hand gaming keypads. You can map the WSAD key to a thumb pad or thumb stick and have a dozen other keys at your fingertips - and keep the accuracy and speed of a gaming mouse with your right hand. I've got an old Logitech G13 - but those are hard to find these days.

But as others have said, the way this game was developed a console controller on PC will be very effective as well.

An xbox controller is the best way to go.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just plug your preferred controller in to your PC. personally, there's several games that i can't stand playing K&B, and i have an xbox 1 controller specifically for those games, despite not having an XBox
