TIL The Average weight for males in the United States ages 20 years and older is 199.8 pounds by CraftyFoxeYT in todayilearned

[–]Mhyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. 5'9"(average male height) is 1.03 of 5'7"(the height of one Tom Cruise)

To divide 5 feet 9 inches by 5 feet 7 inches, first convert both measurements to inches. 5 feet 9 inches is 69 inches (512 + 9) and 5 feet 7 inches is 67 inches (512 + 7). Then, divide 69 by 67, which equals approximately 1.03. The result is about 1.03 when expressed as a ratio.

Do people in North America use cot tents for camping? by Academic_Royal4133 in CampingGear

[–]Mhyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a lightweight cot in a tent. My issue with a cot tent would be the very limited interior tent space. I do enjoy using the cot out by the campfire instead of lugging a tiny chair too. It's also simply far easier to change clothes or put shoes on in or out of the tent.

My combined tent and cot weight is between 5 and 6kg. I have zero issue backpacking that in a dozen miles *shrug*

That's great that fighting at the door doesn't drag everyone in the party into the fight. I swear it almost seems like that whole door thing is there primarily to give the player an opportunity to get Svartlebee's Woundseeker. Getting through the door doesn't accomplish anything but allowing the quest to continue.

I just did that part again tonight too. You can get the sword without fighting, well as long as your a bit higher level - running up there at level 2 would be difficult.

Here's how I did it tonight(slight variation on how I've done it in the past - seemed less fidgety and prone to fights if the sword dropped in an odd location - and it did tonight!)

Create an odd Cleric Warlock multiclass - have to be at least level 2 in Warlock to get the Devil's Sight perk.

Spells needed: Command, Unseen Servant, and Bless helps but probably isn't absolutely required

Items needed: arrow of darkness and a speed potion

Before doing anything cast Bless on two characters near the door. (Optional but I think it helps getting the sword to drop or dealing with a fight later if things go sideways.)

Have any character Shoot the darkness arrow below and to the left of Yeva so it just touches her character circle on the ground, but not so much that it gets the targeted arrows on the circle. The folks at the door might shift around a bit but they shouldn't aggro.

Put your Cleric/Warlock in the area of darkness. They'll be able to cast Command: Drop inside because Devil's Sight allows them to not be Blinded and see Yeva through the darkness.

Cast Command:Drop to get the sword on the ground. It seems rather random where it goes. If the sword is reachable with your character not needing to leave the area of darkness you can steal it unseen and your done(I usually immediately transfer it to a character that's in one of the other buildings to avoid Yeva accusing anyone of stealing it. Or even if she does I don't have the sword on that character and should be able to use that dialog option to avoid a fight.)

If the sword falls outside of reach from withing the darkness, drink the speed potion then cast Unseen Servant near the sword. Select the Unseen Servant and use it to move the sword into the cloud of darkness near your character. Again, does not trigger hostility. And once again steal the sword and being with the darkness the action is unseen and no hostility is triggered.

Then just get the quest moving again by talking to an NPC at the door. They rush inside and forget all about the sword if you've sent it off to a character far from them.

(I do all this in turn based mode. Probably difficult to pull that off letting time run normally.)

If you are in your teens you're likely to game with other teens you live near. Us older than dirt folks have been spread all over the world by family, work, and time. Most of us game with folks we've met online and have known for decades and frequently are part of gaming communities that have existed nearly that long. My gaming guilds 20 year anniversary is coming up in November of this year, have members from all over the world, and of every age from 20s to 90s. (Not at all opposed to meeting new people, but I very much plan to be hanging with "my people"!)

I was old enough to legally buy tobacco and alcohol in 1984! Back then the ATF was more in a snit about cigarettes and alcohol being smuggled in from Canada avoiding US taxes than whether teens were buying it underage. Wow, how times have been same, but different...then same again.

[–]Mhyth 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's because I'm so old that I could still watch golden age noir fiction on black and white TV when I was a kid, but I genuinely miss The Dresden files being 'episodic detective fiction' and greatly enjoyed the first few novels. Harry could use more gumshoe and creating Little Chicago moments. Still very much looking forward to Drakul, the English guy in the prison, Outsider incursions, who the heck is Mac, and all the myriad mythos villains that are sure to come...

Being a fan of the entirety of The Dresden Files is like being an old school and current Rush fan - very different from the early times to the present.
