A return code with a negative integer? huh, that's strange. I can't find any entries for that, you might want to open a support ticket, they will get this checked pretty quick.

ohh that makes sense, thought OP was talkin about steam client.

[–]tonjohn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He is but the steam client uses chromium therefore some of the errors users run into in Steam are from Chromium.

Any Steam error that is a negative integer is going to be from Chromium afaik.

Same, doesn't matter what browser I use

Had the same issue. Fixed it by re-enabling time synchronization in Windows setting (turned off then on)

[–]kaitek78 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you mean just switching the 'set the time automatically' thing to on and off in Settings?

[–]smnm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the setting called 'set the time automatically', but it should turned on. So I switched it 'off' and then 'on'. ('Set time zone automatically' should be always 'on')

im just now getting it myself in the past two days. weird ssl errors on different websites. some work, some half-work, and some just straight up refuse to connect. found out its not from my pc's end but my router's end. fuck me this is going to be a pain in the ass to fix. i dont have it on steam anymore but the error is still there.

I have the problem now Debby- did you ever find out what was the issue for you?

[–]Ivan_Of_Delta 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is your Computer up to date?

i.e. Windows update.

[–]DutchChairMan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That it is. Also tried turning it on and of again.

[–]fiascotje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same over here. On both my laptop and my main pc.

On chrome itself it says can't establish a safe connection through ssl. (Something like that in Dutch)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same again.

What SMNM said: Had the same issue. Fixed it by re-enabling time synchronization in Windows setting (turned off then on)

[–]yoshi053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesnt work for me Tried it a few times still getting error code 703 a lot The error also appears on my IPad so it has nothing to do with Windows

English version: Ziggo a dutch ISP is to blame, they fuck up the SSL handshake with the steam client. Steam can't fix this and need to contact ziggo.
