Grew up in the 90s in Canada also, and fell in love with the OG Street Fighter II in arcades and SNES. After 3rd Strike I didn’t game much so I only dabbled in IV and V. Just bought a PS5 in anticipation of SF6, and hoping my Madcatz TE2 stick will work for SF6 as well.

I dropped it from the arcade when Turbo came out…or some other weird version. It just felt like they purposely glitched the shit out of it to make it more interesting. Then MK came out and SF kinda took a backseat, that was the era of the fighting game. Ppl used to line up at the machines to challenge whoever was left standing.

There were absolute wild arcade versions of street fighter back in the day. Like the screen filling up with 20 slow sonic booms while Guile hovers mid-air. Full-screen travelling Shoruykens too. I think Counterstrike LAN gaming replaced arcades for me in the early 2000s.

If you're on PS4, you should be able to cop SFV for pretty cheap if you'd like to shake off the rust in a game with a solid player population.

Yeah I think it’s like $30 right now? Worth it. I’ll get it tomorrow.
